Certificate of Excellence

I have stayed at the Planters Inn on three different ocassions and each visit was great. The hotel staff (except for the girl who checked us out on departure the last time) was very accommodating and professional. Karen the conceirge did everything she could to see that our stay was pleasant and stress free. Bellhops Matt and Tom were professional and did an excellent job taking care of us. The rooms are lovely and the beds were exceptionally comfortable. I will without a doubt stay at the Planters Inn whenever I am in Savannah. Hotels as friendly and comfortable as this one are hard to find.

Room Tip: Corner rooms are the best.

Touring the southern states of USA in Sept. 2012 we spent four nights here - most enjoyable stay - excellent location with shops and restaurants nearby - wine and cheese served from 5.30pm - best to be there early in order to get a seat in the lounge - staff all very friendly - breakfast buffet was good but the room could be really crowded and noisy if the hotel was full. The hotel is in Reynolds Square which is very pretty and plenty benches in the square to sit and watch the world go by. Would certainly stay here again - Good little cafe round the corner for Breakfast as an alternative to the Hotel and the Olde Pink House Restaurant across the road was excellent. We used the valet parking which was very good. Would certainly stay here again.

Our second visit and stay at Planters Inn whereby we were accorded the same comfortable, convenient, and pleasurable experience as before. Somehow the concierge learned of our wedding anniversary and arranged for a chilled bottle of wine for us in our room which added to the invitement. Thanks for the hospitality.

Room Tip: close to the elevator

My friends and I were very happy with our stay at the Planters Inn during our girls weekend. Everything was even better than expected. The location is great. The Inn was spotless. The staff was very welcoming and helpful. And the value was amazing – large rooms and baths, extensive breakfast bar, wine and cheese in the late afternoon and cookies in the evening – excellent! I know that we will be back and can most certainly recommend Planters Inn to people traveling to Savannah.

This hotel is perfectly situated for the delights of Savannah. It is one block down from the main road and the riverside area. From the friendly greeting of the courtesy car attendant through to the two ladies in the breakfast room everyone tried to make you feel at home. Breakfast was acceptable although one of the ladies did persuade me to try sausage gravy one morning which did not go down well. The reception lounge area had the feel of an old well maintained historic house. Our bedroom was a good size and featured a four poster bed with plenty of storage space. Two complaints though! The plumbing is very noisy, both your own room and others! Also we found the corridors noisy, at 7.00am one morning the bellboy was happily chatting away with another guest outside our room! Special mention to the concierge Karen who served the complimentary wine and cheese in the evening. One of the most helpful and pleasant people I have ever met in a hotel. She expalined where and what to do in one of the most delightful cities we have ever visited. Definately recommend this hotel.

We travel to Savannah a lot as our daughter was a SCAD student and now works in Savannah. We have stayed at many hotels in Savannah but this was our first time at the Planters Inn. Staying in Savannah is all about location, experiencing the history and, yes, atmosphere!! The hotel is small and very charming and the staff excellent. It is very centrally located. Bull Street is 1 block away which is where shopping, a CVS (always good to know that a pharmacy is within easy walking distance when travelling!!!!) and many of the other squares are located. The hotel itself is on Reynolds Square on corner of Abercorn and Congress St. I did not give this hotel a 5 because our room, as does the entire Congress Street side, looked onto a huge, unattractive parking deck. The deck is at least 6 stories and and runs the length of the hotel on the Congress Street side. We were on the 5th floor and our view was nothing but parking deck. So suggestion #1 get a room NOT facing Congress Street. The good news is since parking is all Valet only the deck is literally 50 feet away so you can park there if you don't want to wait on the valet. But Valet service is the best I have ever had. The River Front with all the shops and restaurants is an easy walk 2 or 3 blocks. The famous Pink House Restaurant is on Reynolds Square so maybe 50 feet away. Forsyth Park is 7/10s of a mile away directly down Bull. I like to run so I would run down Bull through all the squares to Forsyth. Once around Forsyth is 1 mile. The other great thing about the Planters Inn is its Continental Breakfast. These are so often horrible but Planters does a very nice job and you won't feel a need to go out for breakfast unless you want to. This is an old building with a very small lobby but very, very charming. Rooms are nice, staff excellent. I would defintely stay here again but make sure my room is away from Congress St.!!! As to your GPS......I have a garmin with updated maps and it tried to get me to turn left towards the river front when travelling west on Bay towards Tybee Island instead of right onto Abercorn. Recommendations for breakfast: J. Christophers corner Abercorn and Liberty a student/locals place but excellent and easy walk; Huey's on the River Front. Lunch and dinner just too many good places to name.

Room Tip: Avoid Congress St. side unless you want a parking deck view.

I found this hotel on the internet and it had good reviews. It is located in the historic district just a few short blocks from the Savannah River. All the hotel staff were very friendly and attentive to our needs. We had a large room with a balcony overlooking Reynolds Square. We will stay there again!
