First time to Savannah and wanted to stay in an historic setting instead of a chain hotel. The Marshall was an exceptional pick. We got a free upgrade as my husband is a marine. Great start to the trip. We stayed three nights. Easy to drive to off 16. valet only parking right out front. The valets were wonderful, friendly and funny. We were greeted at the front desk with Happy birthday!! The room was very charming, lots of HBO stations, free water bottles and best..balloons and champagne for me with a card signed by all the staff and a bottle of wine for my husband thanking him for his service. Breakfast buffet was fantastic. Restaurant next door was nice, good food and drinks. The free wine and cheese from 5-7 is really nice with a historian speaking about the hotels history. Hugh the general manager/innkeeper is wonderful. Actually took time to chat with us during happy hour. I would give this hotel six stars if I could. The staff were all so polite, kind and friendly. We had a wonderful time and will be returning next year for my birthday again!!

Room Tip: We were on the 4th floor (with the ghost but didn't see him) room 418, king bed, facing the street. Good room, no noise.

We decided to have a romantic weekend and chose to visit Savannah. I had been there before and knew there would be plenty to do and have fantastic restaurants everywhere.

The Marshall house was out choice because it was very highly rated in a great location. It did not disappoint from the momenttions we walked in. The valet parking was easy and very helpful. The front desk staff was were Pleasent, friendly and efficient.

We were most impressed after getting to our room and getting a call from the front desk asking if we were pleased with the room. Check, for customer service.

The room was a good size with plenty of tv channels and the AC was very cold. The bathroom had an old time club foot cast iron tub/shower combo. Very nicely done.

You could see the age of the building when looking down the hallways. Not a straight wall or door. We found out later that the Marshall house is known as one of the top locations for ghosts. This building used to be a hospital during the war. But, we were glad no one joined us while we were sleeping..... at least I don't think so. If you go there try to Get a second floor room. They have balconies. Not sure if there are doors to the balcony, but, as we were told a lot of homes do not have doors to the balconies as they were taxed higher. People would just climb out the windows.

Did you know that back in the beginning of this colony that lawyers were no permitted to practice there. They also did not allow hard liquor..

Make sure you do the southern breakfast buffet. Yummy. Also they have a great adjoining restaurant and bar. I'm sure the food is good there but as everyone else does you never eat in the restaurant at the hotel where you stay. Don't now why but seems to be the norm.

Thank you Greg!

We really appreciate your time giving us this detailed review.

Hotel restaurants are stereotypically branded as mediocre. This is far from the case with the 45 Bistro! The truth is The Bistro is a separate business from Marshall House and has been a feature in Savannah for more than 30 years. Locals, travelers, and our guests love the food and the classic tavern. They open the airy Courtyard Atrium for events and host private functions as well.

When you have the opportunity please let us know what we can improve upon to ensure our guests have an Excellent experience.

Happy Travels,
Hugh / GM

Hello Perspectech!

The Iron Veranda is one of the hallmarks of the original 1850s Marshall House. Thank you for these very kind comments.

Happy Travels,

We stayed 3 nights and had a fabulous time. The staff was great. Very helpful. We highly recommend the Marshall House. The historian's lecture about the Inn's past was very interesting. Looking forward to our next visit.
