We loved everything about this hotel but the people who work there are the best part by far! The Marshall House is in the perfect location to walk everywhere in downtown Savannah. It is a beautiful place with an interesting history. Every staff member was always so kind and helpful. Joseph and Jazmine were especially hospitable! They were a joy to see everyday! We recommend this hotel to anybody! -Chad & Rachel

My husband and I recently stayed in this hotel for 2 nights over the July 4th weekend. We had a balcony King room, which was a real treat for morning coffee and a before dinner drink.

We chose to stay at this hotel because of its proximity to downtown so that we could easily walk to the restaurants, shopping and bars closely. It suited our needs perfectly. It was also an easy walk to explore the historic district, which we spent much of our time doing. I have previously stayed in a historic B&B in Savannah, and this was a nice change and provided a little more anonymity and services that you sometimes lose when you are in an inn or B&B. The wine and cheese was a nice touch in the late afternoon, as was the relatively fulsome breakfast.

Generally speaking, I would not say that this hotel is luxurious. I would call it moderate upscale. It has its historic quirks. The bathrooms could use updating, and better quality toiletries could be provided to give it more of an upscale feel that the price perhaps warrants.

All in all, I would stay there again.

This was a great place to stay while we enjoyed the city. Close to everything and such a pleasant atmosphere and while we didn't see any ghost it was still fun and exciting to even think about. My wife thinks she may have experienced some kind of paranormal things but I was not really into it until we got home and looked at some of the photos she had taken. I now have to go back and check these things out.. Over all an excellent and fun time. I will be back.

My husband and I stayed at the Marshall House with our one year old son for a few nights and would strongly recommend the hotel for visitors to Savannah.

Location - The street that the hotel is located on is unimpressive but the hotel is very centrally located for tourism. It is only a few blocks from the River Street (River Front with all the shops, bars and restaurants) and a few blocks from City Market (more shops and restaurants) and a short walk to various beautiful squares, famous mansions, museums, the big cemetery, etc...It isn't located in the most bopping or beautiful area but it is only a very short walk to almost everything.

Room - We stayed in a "Superior King" Room. It was a fairly decent size for a historic hotel but small in comparison to franchised hotels. It was the last room in a corner and a bit oddly shaped. It was clean. The fixtures, furniture and amenities were in good shape. There was a mini-fridge, big mounted TV, great hair dryer, good toiletries, nice shower water pressure and comfy robes. As far as "historic inn" type of rooms, this was on the nicer end.

Hotel Amenities - The bar/restaurant was very nice. The bartender was friendly, the menu looked good, the atmosphere was unique and fun. We did not eat there - only stopped in for a drink in the lounge during early evening. It closed fairly early for a weekend - 10:00 pm - not that we wanted to be there late w/ a baby. There was a complementary breakfast. Toast, Bagels, fruit, cereal, and either quiche or eggs each day. It was ok. The location for the breakfast -a converted patio with a glass roof - was nice. There was a wine and cheese happy hour Mon-Thurs. It was a nice touch and I shouldn't complain about free things but the wine was not good (bad merlot, white zin and chard) and they should spring to have it everyday or at least on Friday. The Kimpton Hotels do a similar thing and they do it every day. Nice complementary lemonade in lobby. I love the history of the hotel and the haunted stories. The only downside to the place is that there is no pool to relax by since it was HOT when we were there!

Service - Personnel was amazing. The concierge, the bellhops, the servers, everybody was unbelievably friendly, professional and prompt. We called down for water bottles once and they were delivered to our room within 3 minutes.

Kid Friendly - All of the staff was very polite to us and our 1 year old. The only negative is that the hotel doesn't have cribs. They provided the name of a service which was able to deliver and set up a pack and play before we even arrived but it was suprising that they didn't cater to families by having cribs.

I always have a hard time deciding whether to stay in a place with personality and charm or whether to stay in a trusted chain with all the modern amenities. If you are coming to Savannah to soak up the history and feel of the city then I definitely suggest staying in this historic inn.

We got an amazing deal for this hotel and therefore weren't expecting much.Ok the room wasn't as big or salubrious as the rest we have stayed in BUT on the internet we only paid £90 per night! Included in this was a more than generous breakfast, squash in the lounge and wine and cheese early evening, fab! There was water and coffee making facilities in the room. The restaurant 45 Bistro was first class... And we are foodies! The lounge the bar and breakfast room, big, beautifully furnished and very comfortable, particularly when drinking the complimentary wine,

Room Tip: We had a standard, probably the cheapest! But if you don't mind a small room by US standards the...

This was a very beautiful hotel. We loved the staff and the breakfast. The only things that I did not love were how small the rooms were, but I guess this is to be expected with how old the hotel is and that it was not as close to the historic stuff as I would like. But a great bonus is that it was close to Lepolds and we were able to get some great ice cream

We recently stayed at the Marshall House for a weekend getaway. It was in a great location, short walk to River St, as well all the nearby charming squares in town. Close to many restaurants and shops. The complimentary breakfast at the hotel was good with a decent variety of food. We also enjoyed the complimentary wine and cheese 'happy hour' in the library. Don't miss the pink lemonade punch they have in the lobby...delicious and refreshing! All of the staff we interacted with were extremely friendly and helpful. Only down side is no fitness center, but I discovered that there is a gym next door with a $10 daily pass available. (too bad I realized that on my last day there) Overall, a great stay in a great hotel. Would defintley stay here again!!
