It's my first time to visit Savannah, Georgia and my sister picked an excellent place to stay in - The Marshall House in the heart of the city's historic district. The staff is warm, friendly and made all of us feel that special Southern hospitality. The hotel itself is charming with a long history as the first one in the city and we were told that like a lot of places in Savannah, it maybe haunted which added an extra touch of eccentric fun. The rooms were generous with warm wooden floors - I think they may be the original floors as they were uneven and looked old and would creak whenever you crossed the room. We had a bedroom w/ 2 generous Queen size beds, a ref, a big wooden armoire and a toilet and bath w/ modern amenities. The bed was so comfortable and we slept beautifully in spite the threat of ghosts and apparitions. The hotel is right in the heart of the Historic district and is part of the usual tours of Savannah. You can just cross the street to visit some nice shops like the Savannah Bee Factory, Tea and Spices and many more. It's just a few blocks away from Paula Deen's Lady and Sons (which I found over-rated, the Southern style fried chicken was too salty!). I guess her Food Channel show has made her one of the Icons of this Southern city. Her shop right beside the restaurant is nice and full of her kitchen and country knick knacks, books, food items.

Room Tip: We stayed in the 3rd Floor and both rooms we rented were excellent.

My wife and I stayed here recently on a touring holiday of Georgia. Reception staff were friendly and helpful, whilst valet parking was prompt and efficient. Our room was spacious and well appointed and breakfast of a higher quality than many American hotels. We also enjoyed the complimentary wine and cheese tasting held each evening of our visit.

The hotel is charming, with very good staff and a great concierge (thank you Brant for going above and beyond!). Rooms feature vaulted ceilings and wonky walls that reflect the hotel's 150 year old character. Great beds!

Be sure to grab dinner at Bistro 45 connected to the hotel...best food in Savannah! Nice breakfast buffet in the interior courtyard. I'll be back, for sure!

This place is the way to go! Wonderfully located in downtown Savannah and within walking distance of everything. The historic charm of this 19th century bed and breakfast was mesmerizing. You literally want to walk every floor just to soak up the history that can be felt on every level. The staff is very friendly and the accommodations are lovely. In spite of the updating done to the rooms you still get to experience the historic value of staying in one of the oldest places in Savannah! The rooms are very charming and beautifully decorated. One of the neatest amenities found in the room was the mini refrigerator build into the night stand! The hotel lobby and parlor are beautifully decorated as well. Very rich in both color and textures. The breakfast is fabulous too! Freshly baked quiche, fresh fruit, biscuits, healthy cereals, pastries, juices, and more. The room where breakfast is served is a beautiful atrium. It is very open and has a glass ceiling, so you feel as though you are actually sitting outside. If you are coming to Savannah to experience the city's historic charm, the The Marshall House is the place to stay!

Room Tip: If you are a couple, I would choose a king room. The extra space is nice, especially if you're s...

The Marshall Hotel is nice, but it's definitely not the nicest historic hotel in Savannah. It's on the main drag (Broughton Street) near Starbucks, the Gap and other chains, so it loses some of the charm of the historic district. The lobby is lovely, and they offer wine and cheese during the afternoon until 7:00. We arrived at 6:55 and the front desk directed us to these delights. As we approached, a staffer was putting things away. It was abundantly clear that we, as well as another couple, were seeking a glass of wine and apps, but the staffer started putting things away on a rolling cart. As I reached for the cheese he literally took the platter away, leaving my hand hanging in the air, and put it on the middle shelf of the rolling cart, telling the other couple and us that we could "help ourselves" (as if to say we were too late and he was too busy to wait even 30 seconds to help us). Then when we reached for the crackers he did it again - he put the tray on the very bottom of the cart and made a statement such as, "See, I won't take it away from you." What?! Not a good start. The concierge was fabulous. He knew the city and had all the right recommendations. Kudos there. The room was okay, but the bed was totally uncomfortable. Every time you rolled over it had that residual bounce, so the bed would literally rock back and forth all night. The Marshall House is nice, but not quite a four star hotel.

On our second night in Savannah, we decided to change hotels because the first one was very disappointing. The staff helped us get a room at the last minute. We had a room that faced the street and you could push up the window to the room and step out the window onto the balcony. The balcony was furnished with chairs and tables. It was great. The lobby is beautiful. We have recommended this hotel to many of our friends

My husband and I had a wonderful time at the Marshall House. The staff were very friendly. It was such a pleasure to be greeted by Carlton each morning. He was so nice, but he never found that ghost I was looking for!!! We had a blast in Savannah, and would stay at the Marshall House again, if our travels are ever bring us back again.

Room Tip: The third floor is suppose to be haunted!!!!! Have a great stay!!
