“Nice Holiday weekend with Friends”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 30, 2007

Went down to Savannah with two other friends for the long
weekend. We loved the Hyatt. The people at the hotel could not have been nicer and the location was fabulous. The beds were
very comfortable with very nice sheets.

To get to the River walk you just take an elevator at the Hyatt and press R and there you are.

Wonderful city and wonderful hotel

Booked a 3-star hotel for Savannah and got the Hyatt Regency. Price was $75 plus taxes ($91 total plus $17 for covered valet parking).

Hotel staff was very attentive (almost too attentive, since we tipped the valet twice plus the bellhop!!) Also, internet access was not free (I think $9.95) so we didn't bother bringing the laptop to the room since we were only staying one night before moving on to our next vacation spot, Charleston.

The location was fantastic. The Hyatt's elevators will take you down to River Street level, or you can exit the hotel at its main entrance.

The room was a little dated, but the beds were sooo comfortable! We also enjoyed their single serve coffee maker in the room which brewed one cup at a time.

We loved Savannah and wished we could have stayed longer. Would definitely book this hotel again at a Priceline rate (wouldn't pay full price).

After reading some of the reviews, I almost feel guilty for what we received for the price we paid through Priceline. I'm just going to share it was less than $100 (including taxes, etc) and the helpful front desk woman put us in a riverview on the 7th floor with a comfortable King bed. I found the room to be nicely decorated with a modern updated look. The Hyatt Stay Fit branded fitness room had all the equipment necessary for a full workout (free weights, cardio, and Lifefitness machines) and there were free bottles of water and fruit. The pool area had a very low ceiling and was a little claustrophobic but with all there is to see in the historic district, you probably aren't going to be staying for the pool. The location can't be beat with the riverwalk right outside the door and the historic area in front of the hotel. Don't pay for parking at the hotel, instead go to the Savannah visitor’s center and pay $8 for a parking pass that lets you park in certain ramps and lots. Our ramp was only two blocks away. My only complaint is the room smelled a little musty but for some fresh air and peace away from the crowds, there was a 7th floor sundeck I found very relaxing. Also, have to mention the incredible Moroccan restaurant we ate at called the Casbah. (118 East Broughton Street) The food was the best we had in Savannah and the belly dancers and decor made for an entertaining dining experience.

We booked this hotel for full price thru our travel agent expecting a riverview and a balcony. This hotel is in need of repair ...the paint is peeling, the rooms are small and the building looks like a brick plunked down in the middle of historic savannah. I was very disappointed that our room did not have a balcony. We were told this was included in $369 + fees price... alas the front desk clerk offered to move us for an extra $125/night . This is a convention hotel for someone who just needs a bed and has a company to pay the $$. The breakfast buffet is not good... save your money and walk down the street to Bakery express -yummy food. This was a family vacation for us - w/ a 4 year old and 21 month old - we loved savannah but hated the hotel.

Hyatt Regency Savannah was a good choice. I stayed there for only 1 night, but it was quite clean, quiet, and had a soft bed. That's all I can ask for. Decent view of the river behind it. In walking distance to the wildly famous and horribly crowded restaurant called The Lady and Sons. On Friday night, we did karaoke and drinks at the wild Bay Street Blues bar across the street.

I have stayed at the Hyatt twice in the last 6 months. Both times because it was the hotel for the functions.
The first room was cleaner than the second. The bed was comfortable, but the rooms needed updating. A refrigerator would also be nice.
The valet parking was easy and the check-in was quick. The bellmanThe staff at the front desk was not the friendliest. The staff at the bar was much nicer. Maybe because they were getting a tip.
I loved the views of the river and shops. The location was great and everything was within a short walk.
For the price of the rooms I would plan on staying somewhere else.

I'd never tried the hotwire/priceline type of booking, but I must say I was plesently surprised.

We did have one major glitch. We got there at just before 3:00 PM and they were so busy that our room wasn't ready. We had to check our lugage and walk around for an hour before they called us on our cell phone to tell us the room was ready. But we got a free breakfast for our inconvenience.

The hotel is old, but the room was in excelent shape with a comfortable bed. It was clean and well furnished.

The rooms overlooking the atrium can be a bit noisy.
