“Stay nowhere else in Savannah”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 27, 2012

My daughter moved to Savannah in 2010, and my wife and I have visited her several times a year. Each time we stay at the Hyatt Regency downtown. It's a great location, right on the river, and all the restaurants, shops and activities that fill the waterfront. The river view restaurant is good for breakfast - only meal we've tried. You are in the heart of downtown Savannah, walking along the canopied streets and squares as soon as you leave the hotel.

But mostly, the Hyatt has superb service. All of the staff are friendly and helpful without being intrusive. At our request, our valet told us about a great local pizza place. The concierge desk is always helpful - restaurant recommendations, driving directions, what events are in town. Whether you eating breakfast, at the front desk, getting your car from the valet, you always get a cheerful, sincere greeting from someone who really enjoys making your stay enjoyable. Stay there - you'll see.

We recently had the pleasure to stay at you hotel. This was our fisrt visit to the Savannah area. From the momement we arrived to the momemt we left it was total enjoyment. Every person we came in contact with had a smile and a willingness to help. We are planning another trip to Savannah soon and plan to stay at the Hyatt at that time too.

Room Tip: If you can , try to get a room with a river view. Quite, spacious and totally comfortable.

Great location. Very helpful, nice staff. Convenient banquet/conference facilities. Rooms were decent just not exceptional. Small bathroom. Banquet food was ok. Again - great location, very good service. Clean but just ok rooms.

I stayed at the Hyatt on Riverstreet for a conference. My stay was for two nights and after upgrading to a riverview room, I ended up with a corner room with a great view of the Savannah river, but with a strange private balcony through a side door onto a rooftop. The balcony was a very cool vantage-point to view and photograph the river. But unfortunately, it was covered in a old green astroturf that was pretty dingy, coming up in places, and rather tacky. There was also a camera dome on the rooftop that made me a bit nervous about who was watching me out there. That's probably a bit paranoid, but it made me uncomfortable.

The hotel staff was great, as usual. My checkin, checkout, and interaction with the valet staff was wonderful.

This property is well situated conveniently near restaurants and attractions on Savannah's River Street. All of the River Street restaurants are within a two to three block walk and the views of the river are fabulous.

The only real knock on the room was the small bathroom size and an odd operation of the air conditioner where it would start blowing out very hot air when the thermostat had satisfied for cooling. So essentially, it would alternate between cold air and hot air all of the time.

Despite the fact that my private balcony was a bit strange, I highly recommend upgrading to a river view room. The sight of the massive cargo ships passing by is worth the extra money.

Room Tip: Opt for the upgrade to a riverview/riverfront room. The view is worth the extra cash.

My wife and I chose to stay at the Hyatt for our first trip to Savannah, and we loved it. While I cannot speak to the other guest rooms, I will say that our balcony room overlooking the river was as enjoyable as we had hoped it would be - the beds and pillows were especially nice! We were referred to by name by each member of the staff, which, although maybe a small thing to some people, is one of those nice gestures that makes a difference.

We had originally planned to try different hotels each time we decide to go back to Savannah for a return visit, but no longer; we will stay only here, unless the Hyatt gives us a reason to do otherwise.

Whenever my wife and I go to Savannah, we always stay at the Hyatt Regency. (We usually average around 2 weekend visits per year.) The service is consistently awesome and we are always treated really well by the awesome staff who are friendly and professional. The location is great: you have safe access to River Street and the Civic Center and City Market are both within easy and safe walking distances, even late at night. So, we usually park the car and then do everything on foot from walking along River Street to visiting City Market to any event that we are planning to attend at the Civic Center.

I suspect that some visitors to Savannah want to stay in an "historic" inn. Always watch out for those as some are more "historic" than others. But, if you are looking for a guaranteed nice place to stay in a safe location with excellent service, the Hyatt Regency is it.

Room Tip: All the rooms are very nice. If you want to spend more, go for a river view room. But, unless you...

This is a four star hotel in the center of the riverfront. The room and staff were great. As I booked this on priceline I got a great price at the last minute. I did have to pay an additional $20 for parking ( mandatory ) but didn't need the car again until we left. I would stay here again if we go back to Savannah.
