My wife and I were granted one night away from our two young sons by grandma, so we ran up to Savannah for a night. It was my wife's birthday, and when I mentioned this to the staff, they immediately offered me an upgrade to a suite, even though they were sold out for the night. As it turned out, the bathroom had really not been cleaned very well at all. The mgt was obviously appalled by it, and immediately stepped in to see to the problems. They also credited my Marriott Rewards acct for the trouble. The property is a bit older, but pretty well-maintained.

Rachel is a top-notch hotel manager. Def worth a visit if the mid-town shopping is what you're after.

Room Tip: Upstairs facing the pool

We booked with Priceline. Did not name our price btw. We were supposed and paid for a King bed with sofa bed room. The hotel gave away our room and wanted to give us only a King bed. The front desk person named Crystal was not helpful and seemingly was completely fine with us NOT getting a resolution. We asked her for a roll-away bed and she said NO. We called Priceline and they called the hotel and then Crystal said they would bring a roll away bed without any acknowledgement of the fact that we had asked for one and she refused. Crystal clocked off and never executed the bed request. We waited patiently and called the front desk three times and NO ONE ANSWERED. I went to the desk and got it worked out. This was all at 11pm after driving all day with my wife and me and our two young kids. Crystal wouldn't work at my hotel. She was sweet in that she smiled the whole time she happily refused to address the issue. Weird...bad service.

Room Tip: Call in advance during the afternoon to confirm the room...that way if they give you a problem you c...

Marriott has an excellent reputation & have never been disappointed in a Marriott/Courtyard/Fairfield establishment until now. First room we were given had gum or some goop smeared on the desk chair. The lock on patio door was broken & wouldn't lock. Asked for another room & was told to just pull down the bar to secure the door. There was no bar to pull down. Moved to another room. Gum stuck on patio screen door, no phone book or local directions in room. Bathtub drained stopped up, took about 30 minutes to drain water from shower. Right beside military base, planes & helicopters flying over to land which were very noisy. No continital breakfast & a simple breakfast in the lobby started around $7. I would expect this or at least not be surprised by this in other hotel lines, but not in a Marriott.

Room Tip: Book at another hotel.

Pluses- Nice room, well equipped, reasonably quiet, nice beds and lots of pillows.
Minuses- Given wrong directions to building. Hauled all our stuff up to 2nd floor only to find out our room was in another building. Property hard to find, passed entrance twice. Shower head leaked onto bathroom floor but not much of a problem since we didn't find out until our morning showers, just before leaving. Had to call front desk to get kids out of pool at 00:15 [Pool closes at 23:00]. Not much partying going on in spite of being St. Patrick's Day in Savannah.
Overall a reasonable experience. Didn't use pool, fitness center or restaurant.

Room Tip: Double check which building your room is in.

Fairly typical Courtyard - tho a bit dated/faded. Nice location and since its well set back from the road its very quiet. The front desk staff was warm, welcoming and friendly. The clerk called our room shortly after check-in to be sure we were satisfied. Bed was comfy and linens nice. Good value (thru Priceline) and a good stay. It was a quick drive down to the historic district and not too far from I95. A good waypoint as we made our way north.

This hotel was a delightful surprise. In is right on Abercorn, in midtown Savannah....but once you drive down the long entryway, you can no longer hear the traffic. The lobby is huge and clean. Business area has a large touch, interactive computer screen and printers. Several seating areas. The desk clerk gave me a lower rate than the once I reserved for, after double checking all my discount cards life AARP, and AAA. Our room was on the 3rd floor, overlooking the pool. The balcony has sliders and screens. The night was beautiful so we slept with the slider open. It's been years since we have been able to do that! The only drawback is that they do not include breakfast. However, they do have Starbuck's and you can order a sit-down breakfast. A beautiful setting at a great price. We'll be back.
