“Southern Hospitality At Its Best!!!”
Reviewed May 14, 2013

We stayed 1 week at the Presidents Quarters in room 303.(Teddy Roosevelt's room) They have onsite parking, elevator and central air. The room was quite large and nicely decorated. The bath was spacious with bathtub/shower combo, granite counter tops, robes, extra large towels and an extra make-up wash cloth. (Nice touch) The staff made our stay very comfortable, answered all of our many questions and cared about us. We will missed the delicious breakfasts we enjoyed every morning (something different each day), the conversations and the bed turndowns with special treats at night. The Presidents Quarters is located close to the Old Pink House and many other sites of interest. If we are fortunate to make this trip again - we will certainly stay at the Presidents Quarters.

I honestly cannot think of one thing that would enhance this place. It was so comfortable, the bed and bedding was amazing. The food was great, and eating in the courtyard cannot be beat! It was spotless and I was very impressed. I have recommended staying here to friends and all have been impressed. Oh cannot forget the hosts and hostesses, so imformative and helpful, surperb!

Just returned from an all-too-brief first time visit to Savannah. We stayed three nights at th e PQI. It was first rate -- from the check in to the breakfast to the fabulously appointed rooms. I am not a fan of B&Bs. This was chosen by one of our travelling companions but I am officially a convert. Really well-run property.

I'll do my best to give a detailed review. I have stayed at several B&B'S and many hotels in Savannah. I do prefer the B&B'S. The President Quarters is a great location for those who enjoy walking around Savannah. They are located just a block or so away from the Colonial Park Cemetery. Made for a fun evening doing our own impromptu ghost hunt walking along the cemetery gates. I didn't think they were to far from the River or City market. It's about a 10 to 15 minute walk to both. Something I love about Savannah though is if you aren't up for walking many services are available to pick you up and take you back to your location. Just one service is Savannah Hoppers, it is only $3.00 per person and they will take you to any location in the Historic District. Their number is 912-414-2943. Back to the review. The Presidents Quarters is on Ogorthorpe Square. You can pull right into the parking lot. It is a little tight in an SUV but definitely doable. There was always a space available when we returned from our ventures. Thats a big deal in Savannah. This is one of the few places you can have easy access to your vehicle. The courtyard is on the smaller side but still very pleasant and a great place to relax. The staff leaves at 10:00. The people staying here are responsible for locking the gate to the courtyard and house. Because they leave at 10:00 you no longer have access to the Ice Machine. I didn't like that. You do get bottled water in your room but no ice after 10:00 so it will be warm. Also if you want to enjoy a drink in the court yard in the evening having ice would be great. The common area where they have the evening social is very small. About a 13x13 room. You can take it outside but this was the first B&B I have stayed that didn't have a dining area or parlor. They did have a room with a few tables inside off the common area but it was small too. In most B&B's you have a large parlor or common area for socials in the evening where you can enjoy setting in a large dining or living room. This B&B doesn't have that. The guest rooms are very nice though and had the largest bathroom I have seen so far in a guest room. Plenty of room for luggage and bags to be put away out of sight. They do have some rooms with a balcony but don't be to disappointed if you don't get one. We did not have a balcony room and still had a perfect view for the fireworks they were setting off at the river. And again the court yard is very pleasant. Others have posted about it being loud because of the bar next door but we really didn't have any issues with that and we were on the side next to the 17hundred90's bar. The breakfast was not the greatest. I think just about any hotel that offers a continental breakfast is comparable. That's just being honest. The staff members were understanding of our mother who is ill and comes across to some as difficult. Once they knew she liked coffee at strange times one staff member(I forget her name) made sure she had coffee at 5:00. That was much appreciated . The only downside of this B&B is you don't have things like a Ice Machine after 10:00,a Coffee Pot in your room and someone at a front desk after 10:00 if you need something. The price was reasonable. However please know you can stay at many hotels on Bay Street and would also be pleased with your stay. I did enjoy the visit but would probably try another B&B on the next trip but I like to try them all out. Anywhere you stay in Savannah will be enjoyable.

We are sorry that these guests did not enjoy every aspect of their stay. We try to make everyone's experience enjoyable, but we recognize that we may not be the best fit for everyone.
What guests who pick bed and breakfast over hotels seem to enjoy is the more intimate settings that allows them to interact with other guests . These guests seemed to not be interested in that aspect of their stay with us.
At check-in, we emphasis to all of our guests to keep their keys with them at all times. This will allow guest to access the Inn and their room as they come and go after staff leaves at 10pm. Our staff takes care of locking the gates on the courtyard and the front door as they leave about 10pm in the evening. Posted on the front desk, at the front door of the Inn, and the gate leading from the parking lot to the courtyard are signs with several after hours emergency contacts.

While our breakfast area inside is cozy and intimate, we are able to serve breakfast in the courtyard most of the year, which gives our guests several options. As a non-smoking property, we do not allow smoking in the Inn but is appropriate to do so in our courtyard garden. These guest did take advantage of our courtyard to enjoy a cup of coffee and a cigarette in the evening as well as during the early morning prior to breakfast and throughout the day. We do have one of the larger courtyards of the privately owned Inns in the historic district in comparison to other properties, including the hotels.

We offer a hot chefs' choice each morning as well as our continental choice that includes our Homemade Granola and Breakfast Breads, a cup of fresh fruit, and Greek-style fruit yogurt. On one of the mornings of their stay, these guests were not interested in the chef's choice or the continental option so scrambled eggs with toast was offered to them and several of the had that the following morning.

At check-in we discuss with guests that our ice machine is in the kitchen in order to maintain the ambiance and character of the 1855 townhomes that are now the Inn. We point out that you have an ice bucket in your room that we will be happy to fill for you at anytime during your stay. Guests can bring the ice bucket down and we will happily fill that then or we can do so when your bed is turndown each evening at the guests request. If requested, we could also fill the ice bucket for guests just prior to our departure at 10pm, so that guest coming back from a late dinner or ghost tour will have that. We were not aware that these guest were interested in ice or needed it during there stay. They did however request coffee throughout their stay, and we were happy to provide that for them as requested. We could have happily provided the ice along with the coffee had the guest requested it.
We wish them the best for their future travel plans, both in Savannah and elsewhere!

The place was superb. Awesome staff, clean and comfortable rooms, staff was attentive and very friendly, met many couples while sharing breakfast or afternoon wine. Wife and I went for our anniversary trip and we will return again one day.

Our son got married in Savannah and our family and friends needed a place to stay for 3 to three nights. The President's Quarters is conveniently located next to Olglethorpe Square. There is convenient parking, easier than the valet or garage parking at the hotels, and the cost is very competitive. Because of the wedding events we weren't able to enjoy the afternoon wine, but the breakfasts were great. Two choices each day of creative dishes. There are newspapers and coffee ready for early risers like me. We had made several trips to Savannah before and had stayed in two other B&B's. Our last stay was in the DeSoto Hilton, a great hotel, but we will be staying in the President's Quarters next time.

Stayed one night in the historic district and chose Presidents' Quarters. The location is fabulous. You are in easy walking distance of all the major sights and restaurants. The on-site parking made it easy to pull in and not worry about the street cleaning schedules or meters.

We stayed in the Teddy Roosevelt room (which has Richard Nixon memorabilia - decorating is changing). The room is at the back of the house away from the square. Noise levels were fine. We did not hear anyone inside the hotel and only some minor noise from the street. It was quite large and very nicely appointed. The bath was also large and spacious; regular tub/shower combination. Attractive granite counter top holding all bath essentials. Robes in the closet and large white towels.

Small gathering area downstairs at check in desk for the evening wine and hors d'ouevre hour and for breakfast. Period furniture and very nice decor throughout the entire house. The small enclosed courtyard with deck was available for sitting and relaxing with wine or breakfast. Black wrought iron tables and chairs nestled in the small garden.

Breakfast was offered at specific seatings and a choice of two options (continental with granola, yogurt, fruit and bread or hot meal with bananas foster french toast and two sausage patties/ fruit garnish). The staff was very attentive at breakfast (accommodated lactose allergy with soy in the french toast) and through out the stay.

Why not the fifth star? Based on the fact that the room was $250 a night, I think there were 2 areas for improvement. First, a wedding was in the courtyard and lingered into the wine time. I did not feel comfortable encroaching on the couples special moments; however, I do think that management should have indicated the wedding at the time of check in as a heads up. It would have been nice to sit out in the sun at the end of the day. And the other comment is around breakfast. My preference is not to have a set time to be downstairs to eat while on vacation. And I think the breakfast was a bit skimpy. Why not offer the continental to all and then have the hot meal prepared upon request? A side dish of fruit would have been welcome with the two slices of French toast and sausage.

Overall, a nice experience. I would probably choose to try another inn on my next visit, or at a minimum ask about weddings and food at the time of booking/ check-in.
