“Embodies the Old South”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 29, 2014

When you look up "Southern" in the dictionary, you'll see a picture of the Hamilton-Turner Inn. This Inn is a glorious tribute to all that is traditional and genteel about the South. From the gracious parlor to the wonderfully elegant yet comfortable dining room, complete with original chandeliers and floor-to-ceiling doors and windows, your stay in one of the many beautifully appointed guest rooms will remind you of life from a bygone era. The delicious smells from breakfast being prepared that creep up the stairs from the kitchen make you wonder if this is how the original occupants of the home used to greet each day. And breakfast itself is glorious! A sideboard of cheese, honey, fruit, and homemade granola awaits you, along with the daily special breakfast lovingly prepared and personally served by the gracious innkeeper. At the end of your day, turndown service with soft music and homemade cookies awaits you. If you are around the Inn during nightly wine hour, you'll find a wonderful selection of finger foods. I frequent the Hamilton-Turner Inn for business travel and I absolutely love this place, highly recommend it, and have even gifted the Inn to my adult children for special occasions. Centrally located in Savannah, you are within a wonderful walk's distance of practically anything and everything you want to do and see. Oh, and make sure you purchase some of the wonderful homemade granola to take with you when you leave. You will not regret it, nor will you regret your stay at the Hamilton-Turner Inn.

Room Tip: The Noble Jones suite is my favorite - with it's wonderful king-sized bed, comfortable sitting a...

I decided to book this Inn for my 22nd birthday with my girlfriends. I was extremely surprised... The photos do not do this beautiful structure justice. The service surpassed all of my expectations.

Breakfast is delectable with fruits, pastries, honey, cheese, yogurt, granola, as well as a hot food item (One morning we had lovely quiche to start the day) as well as tea, coffee, juice. Served in the parlour were hors d'oeuvres - crudités, and small bites, as well as red and white wine. In the later evening they have port.

The location is within the historical district and sitting on the beautiful Lafayette Square, next to the church. The girls and I were woken up every morning at 9am by the church bells... no phone alarm needed! All of the picturesque gardens and squares, along with cafes and boutique shops were within walking distance.

The room was spacious enough to cater for the 4 of us girls. The bathroom was large, and there were seats, ottomans and plenty of areas for us to relax within the room when we weren't exploring Savannah. The shower doubled as a large spa that could comfortable fit 2+ adults.

The housekeepers have great attention to detail. The rooms were always in perfect condition (no dust, no stray hair, towels always neatly folded, bottles of water always replaced, and HEAVENLY turndown service with cookies left on bed!!) and after our first night, the housekeeper saw that there were 4 of us in the room... and left extra shampoo, conditioner, and soap without us having to request all of this.

Overall the service was unparalleled, and the Inn itself was visually stunning.

We walked around the historical district many times and we all believe that this was the right decision. No other Inn is more beautiful in Savannah. If you want something special, stay here.

Best birthday ever!

I would not suggest this Inn for young families with children under 12.

Room Tip: Pick room 404! You have a beautiful room with a view of the Church....... even from the restroom. T...

From the minute we walked in the door my husband and I were so impressed. The staff was so friendly. The inn was spotless and so well decorated. The room was so comfortable and the bathroom was amazing. We especially loved the little touches... Essence water and snack, wine hour, nightly turn down with cookies. Breakfast the next day was amazing as well. The location was perfect as well--we could walk to everything! Our only regret is not having the chance to stay longer. We will definitely be back again!!!

5 Stars just are not enough to rate this charming first class Bed & Breakfast/Boutique Hotel. We didn't want to leave at the end of our stay. The location is perfect for walking the wonderful town of Savannah. The House is a historic masterpiece dating back to 1873. It was the first residence in Savannah with electricity (1883), and even survived the great Savannah fire of 1898.
Needless to say this mansion's 17 converted suites are spectacular. Upon checking in, we received a glass of "welcome" champagne with raspberries. Yum! (It is these added touches that make this place even more amazing).
We stayed in the Thomas Charlton Room on the main floor (technically that is the 2nd floor). Beautiful large room with a beautiful bathroom. It has lovely floor to ceiling windows and a small walk-out balcony looking over the courtyard. Loved the cookies placed on the bed at turndown!! **The ONLY issue someone could have with this room is that it is next to the kitchen and you can smell whatever they are cooking for the morning breakfast. We didn't mind because the smells were fabulous - but if you are sensitive to that sort of thing you might want to go to the 3rd floor**.
We loved the tranquility of the sitting room for either morning coffee, afternoon snacks, evening wine or late evening port wine. The hospitality from the staff and owners was top rate all the way. They were helpful, informative and friendly!
My husband and I will definitely be back when we return to Savannah.
We LOVE The Hamilton-Turner Inn!!!!

We had an outstanding time at this charming inn. The staff could not have been more accommodating. Fabulous breakfasts, great happy hour with wine and yummy appetizers. The staff offered excellent tips on dining and tour guides. The rooms are beautiful. We stayed in the Pulaski room - in the basement, but above ground with a private entrance which was nice. Can't recommend this inn highly enough!

The Hamilton-Turner turned out to be our favorite inn while visiting the South. The photos on their website give you an idea of what the inn looks like but until you actually stay in this historic home, you won't truly know how special it is. In case you were wondering about the rumors about this being a haunted house..... it's nonsense. It's a gem.

Room Tip: The Johnny Mercer was beautiful and comfortable.

A friend and I stayed here for two nights in June. Staff is attentive and helpful and the owner is absolutely in her element insuring that the Inn and the breakfast room run smoothly. Rooms are well-appointed - We stayed in 301 which had 4 sizable windows and a fabulous view of the square, very comfortable 4 poster bed and a large beautiful bathroom with jacuzzi tub. It was pretty warm during the day, so we didn't need the pretty little fireplace that was front and center in the room. Breakfast was amazing and varied each morning. I am gluten- free and they offered a selection of items for me. Also included was afternoon wine and treats, and evening port.

The Inn is in a great location for walking tours around Savannah and the front desk is very resourceful with lots of information regarding a wide range of sight seeing Parking is free and easily accessible on side streets next to Inn.

I would highly recommend this Inn and can't wait to return on my next trip to Savannah, which, by the way, is a lovely city!.
