From the moment we arrived and were greeted by Hope, we had a great stay at the Holiday Inn Express in the Historic District of Savannah!! The location was perfect--close to everything from the Historic District to the Riverfront. We arrived quite early on the day we were booked. We went straight to the hotel lobby and were greeted by Hope who has a wonderful smile! Hope was extremely helpful advising us that we could go ahead and take our car to the valet for parking and she would store our luggage until our room was ready that afternoon. That allowed us to go ahead and start our day in Savannah. We walked around the corner and discovered the Olde Pink House for lunch--we would highly recommend this restaurant! We enjoyed it so much that we went back to the Tavern they have downstairs that evening (opens at 5:00). When we went back to the hotel to check-in, Hope recognized us and informed us that our room was ready. With all of the people Hope comes across, it was nice to be remembered and referred to by name each time she saw us in the lobby. The hotel is very nice--great decor, clean, and well-thought out. Our room was great--very nicely appointed, great large shower, and the bed was very comfortable. I can't say enough how clean and fresh everything was. We stopped in the bar off of the lobby for a night cap at the end of our evening and met some really wonderful people also staying there. The bartender went to great lengths to introduce everyone and make sure we were all having a good time!! The next morning when we went down for breakfast, Hoope was in the lobby and addressed us by name and asked if we were enjoying our room and our stay--really nice of her to inquire since there were several people in the lobby. Breakfast was great--we love the warm cinnamon rolls, but there were biscuits and gravy also that looked wonderful!! The staff serving breakfast were all friendly and very helpful. Unfortunately, the weather was not so good and it was pouring rain when we finished breakfast. We asked Hope for suggestions and she was full of them--thank you, Hope!! We went to check out and Hope offered to store our luggage once again, so we could keep our car in valet parking and go down to the Riverfront for lunch. We asked Hope where the closet place was to buy an umbrella, and once again, Hope to the rescue--she went to the side room and came back with an umbrella for us to borrow!! Thank you, Hope--we really did appreciate that!! After lunch, we went back to the hotel to retrieve our luggage and car--Hope wished us the best and asked us to return. We will definitely stay here when we do!!
