Holiday Inn Express Savannah - Historic District
Ranked #11 of 115 Hotels in Savannah
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed March 15, 2014

We chose this Holiday Inn because we wanted to be within walking distance of all the attractions. What a good decision. The hotel is in excellent condition, we had a lovely room overlooking the river, the desk staff was friendly and helpful, the concierge gave us excellent advice on restaurants and attractions, and the breakfast area and fixings were great. One extra bonus was the gas fireplace in the lounge - as we happened to be there in 35 degree rainy weather. We'll definitely go back - Savannah is definitely worth the trip

Recently returned from stay at HIE. We booked a king size room that was very comfortable. No tub but replaced with massive shower that always had hot water. Very nice idea. Nice views and even though on Bay St it was quiet at night. Very easy walking distance to River St, Olde Pink House right around the corner. Breakfast was nice, coffee very good. Plenty of options for breakfast. The concierge was extremely helpful and so sweet as was the rest of the staff. We would definitely encourage others to stay here. This is not your typical Holiday Inn. Way above par. The rooftop pool area was very nice with hot tub, tables with umbrellas and lovely area with couches , chairs and wonderful views. Cab fare to airport $40 with tip. Would definitely stay here again and wish other HIE were as nice.

Room Tip: Book a king corner room with view. It was very comfortable.

My boyfriend and I came to Savannah for a five day trip. Originally we were looking to stay outside of the historic district to save some money. In the end we decided to splurge a little and stay at the Holiday Inn. It was the best decision we made of the trip and 100% worth the extra money. The hotel is in the perfect location to walk to everything. It was great to just walk out in the mornings and start our day and be able to walk back to the hotel whenever we wanted to rest. The hotel is very well kept and clean. We were very pleased with our room. It was very nice, clean, and comfortable with a good view of the river. We did have an issue with our tv when we first got to the hotel, but it was taken care of in no time and the staff was very friendly in the process of getting it fixed. The staff was great and willing to help us with anything we needed. We loved the free breakfast in the mornings, it is definitely not your standard hotel breakfast. They had everything from cereal, eggs, meats, pancakes, and cinnamon rolls. Savannah is a great city and staying at this hotel made our trip even better. We can't wait to visit again!

Room Tip: Ask for a higher level floor with a view of the river

What a difference between this HIE and the one in Naples, Florida.
Check in was smooth and the curb valet service was efficient if a little curt and matter of fact. Had to ask the front desk for my Rewards Club gift and she actually pulled up a tray with bags of potato chips, Ugh! I asked for the gift bags behind the desk which contained water and she told me that I wasn't entitled to one of those because I hadn't achieved "gold" status. Really?!! She embarrassed me. Shame on her. She should have handed over a bag as a courtesy.
Excellent view of the river from our 7th floor room. We had a double queen room which was excellent in every way except it was very cramped. Great location, and very excellent, professional, and knowledgeable concierge named Maggie. Kudos to you Maggie!

Room Tip: Ask for a high floor with a view of the river

Flew to Savannah, $40 cab each way (includes tip) to The Holiday Inn Express on Bay Street. Greeted by a nice staff, location was great, could walk down to River Street. I would stay here again, room was clean, breakfast was nice, and Bartender was a pisser. No food at bar, just evening cocktails.

Room Tip: Try to stay away from elevators, on our floor there was a soda machine that was pretty noisey, may b...

Arrived March 3, 2014. Great location, great rooms, seems rather new and very clean. Plenty of very hot water (that's important to me.) The beds were great and the pillows were just right. Our room was on the front corner on the second floor and it had a great view. It's a walking town so it was good to be centrally located on the riverfront. The entire staff was so pleasant and cheerful and the front desk was quite helpful. We had trouble connecting to the internet and the service guy, Steve, went right up to our room with us and got us connected within minutes! Best of all was the wonderful attitude of a girl named Amethia who worked the breakfast area each morning of our week long stay. She was always so pleasant not just to us but to everyone in the room. My hat is off to you, Amethia. Well done. We would definitely stay here again and would recommend this hotel to anyone. Coming from Kentucky we know hospitality when we see it and Savannah has it in spades.

Room Tip: Get a corner room, front of hotel next to the river. We stayed on the second floor and it was great...

The young lady at the front desk (wish we had gotten her name) was very welcoming when we arrived. She gave us a great tip for dinner nearby.
Nearby is the key word.
This hotel is just across the street from the heart of the action in this beautiful city.
