Gryphon is owned and staffed by SCAD - the lunch menu features well prepared sandwiches and salads. We had the specials - crab and avocado mousse and quiche with melon and salad - both nicely prepared and presented. Service was outstanding and the ambience is delightful.

This is one of those 'Oh, Wow! "places not to be missed. The atmosphere is exceptional and the food is excellent. Highly recommend a visit and a look around the old apothecary setting. Every detail has been covered.

Full tea or just an afternoon snack ... I would recommend both.

The atmosphere in this place would make anything taste good. This was an old pharmacy exquisitely turned into a Tea Room for the Savannah College of Art & Design and is staffed by the students. Such a comfortable spot to relax and enjoy an afternoon respite. , Beautiful dark wood display cases that have been turned into bookshelves with Tiffany pendant lamps line the walls, an absolutely gorgeous stained glass ceiling fixture, and a player baby grand piano.

The food was worthy of the ambience and reasonable priced for the area. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and would definitely recommend Gryphon to family & friends.

My family and I stopped here for lunch on a walk through historic Savannah as it was right on Monterey square. The restaurant is set in an old apothecary shop (Solomon's) and there are curiosities to look at throughout, as well as a player piano providing entertainment. The menu was simple and light, perfect for lunch on a hot day. I had the grilled pimento cheese sandwich which was not too spicy and fitted with thick slices of slightly smoky bacon, and the iced tea selection of the day, a black tea with mango. Other family members got a variety of sandwiches and the fresh-squeezed lemonade which was delicious and refreshing. The restaurant is staffed by SCAD students and our waitress was pleasant and attentive, and directed us to the SCAD gift shop right across the street which was a nice addition to our shopping day. Would highly recommend this to any Savannah traveler, and it is especially convenient for a walking tourist in the historic area.

Gryphon has made it to my list of places to go whenever I'm in Savannah. Charming atmosphere with the old books and player piano, but the food makes it terrific. The flavor combinations are outstanding, and the tea plentiful. One pot is gracious plenty for two.
