“Great deal considering location”
Reviewed December 16, 2010

Solidly in the Historic District, right beside the SCAD (Oh, you'll learn that SCAD rules...for good reason... in the Historic District) main building and all the trolley tours. Very helpful staff, nice, comfortable, CLEAN room and good continental breakfast. Hampton Inns are always a safe bet and give a lot for the money, this was no exception. But, location and price are the keys to this place. I'd go back at the drop of a hat, man you gotta love Savannah... what a great place to visit.

My wife and I stopped in Savannah for the night on our way north for the Thanksgiving holiday -- and we found an affordable room at the Hampton Inn and Suites. The room was surprisingly nice, in my opinion, because I expected an average King-Bed hotel room. The room featured a large television, a broad darkwood desk, mini-fridge, and a walk-in shower.

The continental breakfast is great! We opted to do breakfast here, and saved our money to get some authentic barbeque from Randy's, which we learned of from the front desk guy, Devon. (By the way, Randy's is NOT in the historic district and you have to ask about it to find it, or Google it -- but the BBQ chicken is to die for).

We just spent a couple of days at this hotel for a short getaway vacation. The location was about as good as it gets, with easy walking distance to everything. The service was friendly and helpful, and the room was everything we expected from Hampton Inn. Booking through Resorts Plus International was easy, quick and gave us a discounted rate. No complaints.

All the staff that we encountered at this Hampton Inn over our 5 days in Savannah, were friendly, helpful and generally outstanding. It's a great location where you can walk anywhere in the Historic District, & the Visitors Center is only a block away. Many great restaurants are within a few minutes walk from the hotel as well.
The hotel itself needs a good cleaning and the hallways are looking tired but the room we booked was everything we expected. It's nice to have a fridge and microwave in your room for snacks etc.
On-site parking is available for $8/day and although it advertises a pool, it's an outdoor one.

A very good midrange hotel with friendly, helpful staff. Within easy walking distance of the city sites. Our room was large and comfortable and very decent value. If you are there to see the city and not the hotel, then this is a pretty good choice . We would stay at other Hamptons on the basis of oue experience here.

If you don't care about the exercise facility, then this is a fine hotel - typical Hampton, not too close to the sites (it's a little walk - just 2 blocks to main visitor center, where you can get on a tour trolley). But if you want to exercise, then this is one of the worst Hampton's (or hotels of any brand) I've ever stayed at.

The small exercise room has flooring that's partially ripped up. Looks dirty and gross. The ceiling has water stains. The equipment is old and makes weird noises when you use it. There's only 1 treadmill (their pics show 2, but there's only 1). There's no cleaner to wipe down the equipment (probably because almost no one uses it). The cold water dispenser didn't work (it was disconnected - I tried to manually connect it, after trying to call someone with the phone in the room, which had no dial tone!- the exercise room is in a small, separate building outside the main hotel building). And the room temp was set at 74 degrees when I got in there - very hot for a workout room.

I walked back to the front desk to let them know the water didn't work, and the woman said "OK" - not "sorry", not "let me get someone to look at that", not "can I offer you a bottle of water while we figure out what's wrong?".

I write this hoping that the management team will either 1) invest in updating the exercise room (fixing phone, fixing water heater, buying a better set of treadmills that are <5 years old and built for commercial use) or 2) put a sign up that sets expectations ("under construction") or even shut down the exercise room (and note that on the booking website) while they fix it. I would have def stayed somewhere else had I known what to expect.

Other things to note (mostly positive):

Rooms were clean
Water pressure was good in shower
Location is good
Parking is $8 (self park on the side or behind hotel)
Easy to find - on a major street/intersection
Good breakfast (good waffles, nice sized breakfast room - not cramped)
