This new hotel is incredibly charming with vaulted ceilings, architectural elements that suit the building, and the most comfortable beds EVER. It's in a great location- we never used our rental car while in Savannah. As we were on our honeymoon we decided to book this hotel which was a little bit more than we wanted to spend, but appeared to be a steal for the rating level and location. We were very pleased on our first night with room 402, the ADA room on street level at the end of the hallway.

Unfortunately we were woken up abruptly in the early morning hours to the sound of water gushing through a pipe next to our room. After it continued for a couple hours we ended up requesting another room and we were immediately relocated to room 419 which was a balcony room overlooking the river. The balcony is a step out only, no chairs. While it was not noisy by any means, we could hear faint music from the sax player who sits along the river, so I guess that's something to keep in mind if you hate music (but I liked it).

Our stay was wonderful, but there were a few small things to keep in mind if you chose to stay here. There are no functional sheer curtains, only a set of blackout curtains so if you want privacy (while changing or lounging around your room in the nude), you have no natural light (and lighting in the room itself is limited. The windows are very large, so you can bet if your room is along the Bay St side, someone will be able to see you. The rooftop deck was not open which was a bummer. As another reviewer mentioned, there is no local info book so if that's something you look for you will need to rely on the staff for suggestions. The bathroom was a little tight in room 419 (I suspect all the bathroom are set up in the same way), but was manageable.

Even still, if we come back to Savannah I would stay here again without hesitation.

Room Tip: Avoid room 402 due to noise

The Cotton Sail is right on the river in the historic district, although so are a number of other hotels in Savannah. A true boutique hotel in a refurbished warehouse with hardwood floors, huge ceilings and a rooftop restaurant bar which everyone involved is hoping will be opened very soon. Probably waiting for that to occur before activating the doorway on the River St level as well. Furnishings are top notch, the bed was extremely comfortable and the staff very friendly. We were a bit apprehensive about noise from the Irish pub downstairs but did not hear a thing from outside. However, we did hear the muffled footsteps of other guests, probably something you just cannot design against with hardwood flooring in the rooms. If you get a river view room it comes with a balcony, but the balcony is only large enough to stand on. Good only for leaning on the railing and looking out over the river which, I must admit, is a pleasurable experience nonetheless. All and all, a very worthy addition to the Savannah hotel scene.

Good location to for being able to get around walking through the city. The staff was great. The only not-so-great things were no refrigerator in the room, a bit pricey for what you get and the hotel is currently not completely finished yet as of this writing. They're finishing/updating the rooftop bar and River St access via elevator, you have to walk a bit to be able to get down to River St., not the end of the world. Overall, a pleasant place to stay in Savannah. Will be better once it's completely finished.

I travel extensively and was very pleased to stay at Cotten Sail within the first few weeks of opening. My room had a great view and it's one of the few rooms I actually enjoyed staying and working in - not just sleeping in. There were some minor issues with construction but the design was perfect. I visited the rooftop bar even though it was not open yet. The bar is going to be a hit. Best view of all the places I have seen. Great job. Be back soon.

The Cotton Sail Hotel is the best hotel in Historic Downtown Savannah! The rooms are the most modern in town with the most comfortable furnishings. The Staff treats guests like family and have a true willingness to take care of every need. I will be back very often! Don't let this hidden gem of a hotel become too popular, it is perfect just the way it is!
