Located on Bay Street less than a block from the City Market area and easy walking distance to many sites and restaurants. Front desk staff was above average. Valet parking is all that is available and the valets are average to above average.

We were in town for New Years and had a king room with a balcony on the front of the hotel (facing Bay Street). This was both good and bad. It was good because we were perfectly located to see the impressive fireworks on the river at midnight. It was bad because there is a LOT of traffic noise on Bay Street (including heavy trucks going to and from the freighter terminal). If your room is on Bay Street, you really need to be on an upper floor (there are only 6).

Our room was comfortable, spacious and had a small microwave and refrigerator.

With the above caveats, we would stay here again and recommend this hotel to friends/family.

The exercise room is small but decently equipped. Valet parking is expensive ($18 per night) but about average for Savannah. Breakfast is $12.95 per day. Cannot comment on breakfast because we did not use it.

Room Tip: For a quieter room, get an upper floor at the rear of the building.

We spent four nights here over the Christmas holiday. We prefer a B&B but had our son with us so we decided to return here for the extra space. As on previous stays, everything was fine. The room was clean and in good repair, staff friendly and accomodating. We requested a room not on the Bay St. side (due to the noise potential) and got it as well as a high floor. We are Hilton Honors members and still recommend joining the program. I think it helps with your room requests. At check in we were thanked for our loyalty and presented with a coupon for two free bottles of water and an extended happy hour. WHOOPEE! That said, we still recommend the HGI Savannah Historic District. The location is great. The staff is great. Savannah is great!

My husband and I stayed at this Hilton property for two nights while in Savannah. When we first checked in, we were given a room with a view of the back of hotel's neon sign on one of the lower flowers and asked to be moved to a different room. The next room was on a higher floor and we had a better view than the previous room. The room was fine for what we needed - comfortable bed and clean bathroom - but it didn't look like the room had been updated in awhile.

The location of the hotel is fabulous. It is close to the City Market and other tourist attractions. It is right in hustle-bustle of the city so expect some noise. Our room was on a higher floor so the noise wasn't too bad.

The best way I can describe the staff at the front desk is indifferent. They were never rude or unkind but didn't seem engaged when we asked questions or willing to go out of their way to help. We stay at a lot of Hilton properties and are use to the 24 hour tea and coffee service, which we didn't see at this hotel. When we asked for decaffeinated tea to make in our room, we were told the hotel only had caffeinated tea. The next morning the coffee and tea service made an appearance along with both decaffeinated and caffeinated teas. The decaffeinated tea was clearly available but the front desk staff A) didn't know and B) wasn't willing to find out.

In another instance, we asked the front desk staff if there were brochures on a few specific tourist attractions we were interested in. The woman at the front desk said she didn't know they had any. It wasn't the specific instances themselves that were the problem. It was the indifferent attitude of the front desk staff that surprised us. I'd expect that if the staff didn't know the answer to a question, they'd try to find out.

On the other hand, the valet staff were very friendly, courteous and helpful. Only valet parking is available and costs $18.00 per night for guests.

You can't beat the great location, but don't expect the full Hilton experience.

Room Tip: Higher floors are less noisy.

I was traveling with my husband on a business trip and we stopped for a long weekend in Savannah. We spent three nights at this hotel. My husband is a Hilton Honors Club Diamond member. He has stayed about 80 nights in Hilton hotels in 2013. Our room was fine. Everything was fine until the valet brought my husband's company vehicle up for us. The moment we got in the car, my husband noticed that something was wrong. Someone in valet parking had helped himself to several items that were in the car. The car had not been broken into. They had the key, they just took what they wanted out of the car.The back of the vehicle was full of business items and everything had been gone though. As far as I know, this is the only parking option you have at this hotel. They charge you $18.00 per day to park your car and then someone can go through it and take what he wants out of it. According to management the hotel is not liable for any kind of theft of guest's property. I bet if guests went through the hotel stealing stuff, it would be the other way around. Needles to say, we are VERY UNHAPPY!!! DO NOT USE VALET PARKING!!!

left car with Valet parking - no forced entry it was looted after being thoroughly searched to select valuables - HILTON GARDEN INN ASSUMES NO RESPONSIBILTY. It seems they feel the valet claim check is a license to steal - the valet parking area is under the HGI building with limited access so that all vehicles/ people must past by the valet stand. judging by the way the management of HGI reacted it must be common for guest to have their property taken by thieves while at the HGI.

We can assure you that it was not and that this is certainly not normal for our property. While we do have limited access to our garage, we do have multiple entry points and individuals do not necessarily have to pass by our valet stand to enter the garage. Again we are sorry for the inconvenience this caused you during your stay. The police are still investigating your incident, and we can assure you that we will continue to assist them in every way possible.

A great stay from start to finish. Close proximity to restaurants and night life. The staff was very helpful and made you feel right at home. Breakfast was amazing and the staff served the Buffett. This caused less traffic at the serving station and made you feel like a VIP. Parking attendants were friendly and courteous. A great hotel! Highly recommended!

I stayed in a room with a balcony view of Bay Street (if you are sensitive to noise this may be an issue because of street traffic but this does not affect me). Great location to downtown and River Street. The staff was friendly and helpful with all questions and requests I had. I have already recommended this hotel to friends and family if they ever visit Savannah.
