“There for the rock n roll marathon”
Reviewed November 14, 2012

Spent two nights here for the rock n roll half marathon. The location was fabulous! A block off the riverfront and a block from city market. The race started two blocks from the front door. It was a nice hotel. The breakfast buffet was delicious and had lots of choices. For race day, the hotel put out bananas and bottled water for the runners. Unfortunately, valet parking, which is your only choice was $18 a night. It was a great stay. My only real issue was the outrageous price! For two nights my bill was $722.00. I'm assuming that was due to the run going on. I would definately stay here again if I ever go back to Savannah.

We stayed here on Veteran's Day weekend - it seemed the hotel was well booked but not overbooked. The check-in was a breeze, the valet's were so kind and helpful. Our room was a King Suite and had a balcony on the 5th floor. I had bought a fan and was glad I did as the hotel is at on Bay Street which has alot of traffic. Our room was clean and stocked with towels and soap. We had paid for the breakfast in advance booking the bed and breakfast deal. On Saturday morning, the service and food was fantastic. On Sunday morning, the food was okay as was the service. I am not sure what the difference was - but there was a difference. Each time we wanted our car brought up, we called ahead and we never had to wait. When we left, a valet came to our room, loaded the luggage caddy and took our things downstairs. He was so pleasant as was everyone we met who worked there. The only complaint that I have (and it is no biggie) is that our room was not cleaned (garbage emptied, towels restocked) on Saturday morning. We were gone most of the day and did not return to the hotel until amost 4 pm. When we saw that the room had not been touched, we just found a housecleaning woman down the hall and gave her our dirty towels and asked for new ones. Again, no biggie but it would have been nice. As far as the price for the valet - that is normal in a place like this where parking is a premium so $18 was not something to fuss about. We would stay here again.

Room Tip: Stay in an upper floor room to avoid the street noise.

We came for my birthday weekend and had an amazing time!!! Location was perfect...staff was amazing....and rooms were spotless!!! Valet Mikey was a great help when I had a huge package delivered and I needed him to put it in my car. Can't wait to come back!!! Felt like we were visiting our friends.

We enjoyed our stay. I have stayed in Savannah, both Historic District and elsewhere many times. The HGI was exceptionally friendly and a great location for visiting the sites and touring the city. Breakfast on site was very good, even by HGI standards (Diamond member) and the staff from valet, front desk, housekeeping went out of their way to be friendly and helpful throughout our 4 day visit. The rooms were nice and clean. One minor issue was road noise if you are on the Bay Street side and on a low floor. We kept the fan on Auto to mask the noise. All the facilities and services were outstanding. We will definitely stay there again when we return to Savannah as tourists. I was on business, and it more than met my needs there as well.

Room Tip: Choose a higher floor if Bay St. side. If a low floor, I would stay in a room facing away from Bay...

I recently helped a group of Girl Guide friends who were coming to spend a week in Savannah. The hotel was fabulous. They worked with me so that when the group arrived after many hours of traveling that all we had to do was scan the credit card and go. They had set up the keys and room packets for me so I could just hand them out without making everyone stand in line. The breakfasts were wonderful - so many choices that everyone had something they enjoyed. The rest of the staff was friendly and helpful as well. My friends were very impressed with the hotel. Pam the concierge was fantastic - helpful and great in working with a diverse group. Thanks for a wonderful experience.

Best vacation ever. Pampered by everyone. Hotel staff great! Mikie, valet was fantastic, tried to convince him to come back home to NC with us!!!!! Hotel was very clean, welcoming and beautiful. Great place for walking, close to shopping, eats and the riverfront.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms facing the water. Great view of the river. The higher up, the better.

My husband and I spent 2 non-consecutive nights here in the last week. We stayed the first night on Halloween en route to another destiation, and it was so nice, we decided to stay on our way back home. The staff was super-friendly, and the room was lovely - very clean and nicely appointed. The King bed was very comfortable and we slept great. It was nice that we could get onto the internet without an access code. There was a nice view of the patio and pool, which we did not utilize, but maybe would have had we brought swim wear. We enjoyed being able to wander around on foot, rather than driving anywhere. It's an easy walk to the river-side restaurants and shopping, and the City Market is right next door. During our second night stay, we asked the concierge to set up a trolley tour, which was great fun. A shuttle came right to the hotel to take us to the tour. I would stay there again, and would definitely recommend this hotel for anyone. In fact, we have already told our friends about how pleasant our experience was, and are all thinking of visiting together! Thanks for the great service!
