“The Most Wonderful Staff Ever!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 16, 2012

We stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn for three nights. The hotel is just off the waterfront in Savannah and is within walking distance to the entire historic district. Our room was very nice; fresh and clean with a view of the back of the city market. Amenities were standard for a good hotel (pool, weight/cardio room, small restaurant). The most impressive part of the hotel was the staff. These folks are wonderful! From the moment we drove up in our car, we were taken care of. The valet was attentive and personable and told us to just go to the room. He took care of unloading the car, parking it, and delivering our belongings...all with a bright smile. The front desk personnel were the same; incredibly attentive and friendly. You could not walk by without getting a "Hi Y'all, how is you day going?" from them. The concierge was in the same category: incredibly likeable, attentive, and she knew her stuff. Our package included breakfast and the staff at the restaurant were as friendly and attentive as everyone else. I've stayed at a lot of hotels in my my time, from some bad ones to some of the best, but I was was incredibly impressed by the staff at this hotel. When I return to Savannah, I know exactly where to stay!

Room Tip: There is some street noise on the lower floors (we were on three) but I didn't find it objection...

Top notch service always at Hilton. From the amenities in the rooms to the helpful and knowledgeable staff to the convenient location;it's everything you need to enjoy beautiful Historic Savannah! Close to everything. We could walk everywhere except to the beach which was only 20 minutes away and you also need to drive to Bonaventure Cemetery. We had an enjoyable stay! Only downside was our room was at a busy NW corner on the 3rd floor and I needed my earplugs to fall asleep at night;slept like a baby after that.

Room Tip: Our corner suite on the 3rd floor northwest corner was a nice size, but the traffic on East Bay Stre...

A lovely hotel on Bay St., that is central to several things, especially the Waterfront & the City Market. I had also considered the Hilton De Soto & stopped by to compare. I thought each hotel lobby was lovely & couldn’t decide which one I liked better. I think the Garden is better centrally located, but the De Soto is right inside the Historic Home district with lovely outdoor surroundings & central to several of the Squares, but seemed a farther walk for the sights we wanted to do.
We did not eat or drink here, although it’s a nice touch to have extended happy hour for Hilton Honors. Fresh baked cookies every day, just like their sister hotels. We valet parked our car & took it out only once because it was raining & our restaurant was a mile away. Due to the rain & it being a Sunday evening, not much traffic & street parking was easy & free. Valet parking is per day, so no extra charge this night out.
All the staff was very courteous, friendly, & helpful. We thought the lady that checked us in, never went home in 3 days or nights—lol. The valets were wonderful! Every day, asking if they could help us with directions, etc.
Housekeeping was great & everything was clean. We even had 3 wastebaskets, which was a complaint of mine at other hotels we stayed in along the way. When did hotels cut back on wastebaskets??? Our room was on the City Market side & we had no noise. Nice room with a lounge chair & ottoman & an ergonomic desk chair. Good Wi-Fi reception & the room equipped with a microwave, refrigerator, & coffee machine. We skipped making our own coffee, as there is free fresh coffee in the lobby. This was a very positive, pleasurable stay & we would reserve here again! BTW, I booked on-line for one night with my points & 2 nights out-of-pocket. I changed my reservations 2ce due to a rate drops. I called the hotel & asked that we would not have to move, since honor points requires a separate booking. No problem changed over the phone & confirmed when checking in. Extra points from me for this!

Room Tip: Not a room tip, but a tip to the Waterfront. There is an elevator to take you to the street from the...

The Hilton Garden is a very nice hotel. Spacious rooms. Clean, even the bathtub sparkled!

For location it's right in Historic Savannah. Walking distance to sites, shopping and dining! Hilton Honors guests also get extended happy hour prices at the Bar!

Fresh cookies await you at the front desk after walking all afternoon.

Price could not be beat!

The staff is extremely courteous !! Having a concierge was polite enough to make reservations at the Pirate House for us.

All in all a GREAT stay filled with smiles and Hospitality!!

The hotel is in a great location for seeing everything in downtown Savannah. We valet parked the car on arrival and did not see it until we left 3 days later. Loved River Walk which was just across the road (flat shoes recommended as the cobbles are very uneven). There are lots of good restaurants with good food at varying prices but would recommend Cotton Exchange and Huey's. Don't bother going out to look for breakfast. The hotel serves an excellent buffet or made to order for $10. Finally, I cannot say enough about Southern hospitality. All the staff at the hotel were so friendly and helpful. Try the little bar for happy hour. It is a good spot for meeting other guests. We came away from Savannah with very happy memories.

Room Tip: Our room was facing the back of the hotel and was nice and quiet.

This is a relatively new hotel so everything is very nice. Rooms are very nice, breakfast buffet was good and resonably priced. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Valet parking in their underground garage is required. Consider it part of staying in a nice hotel in the city, like so many other cities. Once parked, we did not need our car again until we left two days later.

The hotel is located directly in front of City Market, where much of the night life and restaurants are. Everything else in the Historic District is a walk away.

And now the bad. Bay Street. This is an extremely busy and noisy thoroughfare. A room on the back of the hotel facing the town would no doubt be much quieter than the rooms facing the river, which are directly over the street. Luckely, I travel with ear plugs for just such circumstances, so I got through it. Any of the hotels alobg Bay Street will have the same noise issue. This hotel would have gotten a 5 if not for the road.

I would certainly stay here again. I will ask for a room in the back, and keep my earplugs near.

Room Tip: Face the city, not the river. The view of the river is nice, but it is not worth the noise at night...

Kristina Rhodes was so nice. She told me how to get around in the Savannah area. She told my business partners and I about a food place called Fiddlers which was great. She gave us a very easy route to St. Simons beach. The rooms were clean with a great pool, jacuzzi, and workout facility. Thank you Kristina for a great stay here. I plan to visit again.
