“Right where you're going to want to be..”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 30, 2012

We have been to Savannah a number of times but this was our first stay at the Hilton Garden Inn...Its located right in the Historic District so this is where you will want to be..The City Market is literally directly behind the hotel..A walk across Bay Street and down steps or an elevator and youre on River Street. We parked the car on a Friday and we were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go until our departure on Sunday...
The hotel staff were extremely friendly ..all of them...
Our room was great...we always get a king plus a recommend you ask for a room facing Bay Street and get one of the rooms that has a balcony to be able to step out and see whats happening..We had read that it was noisy...you could here some traffic noise but we were on the 3rd floor and it wasnt really a problem.
There is a small parking lot right behind the hotel but we used the valet parking which was and easy in and out ($15)..
We went out for lunch and supper again being able to walk...Had the buffet breakfast in the hotel which was quite good..
Stopped each evening at the tiny lobby bar...great friendly staff..

The only thing I could say that wasnt up to par was the tv channel selection...
They did have nice flat screens but only 20 or so channels...Of course we werent in the room much but when we did settle in for the night more choice would have been nice..

Room Tip: Id choose the front room for the view

Great location in Savannah, larger than most HGI's. The 1 BR suite is really not that great as it is a small BR with a separate LR. It seems pretty cut up. It is nice to have 2 large flatscreen TV's. and the desk area is very good.
Valet parking is $15 per nite, and you reallly don't need a car downtown. Breakfast in the AM is very good.

Room Tip: Rooms on the Bay St side can be noisy.

We stayed here and had a 6th floor room facing savannah harbor. The room was nice but not real spacious. The noise from the street was terrible all night. I actually thought it was storming and a couple times felt a vibration from it?!? Very nice at check in and valet parking. Close walk to city market.

We have stayed here on three seperate occasions in the one bedroom king suite and have been satisfied with the room each time. The location is great near all the restaurants, City Market, River St, museums off MLK and antique/art shops. Parking is $15.00 and there is a little noise from Bay Street but if you want to walk to everything it's worth the slight inconvenience. Carpet in the hallways is getting a little old and could be replaced but no complaints with the room.

Stayed at this hotel for three nights during All State Band & Orchestra and had a great stay. It was short walk to the Civic Center for the kids and even shorter walk to the Gelat-Oh! gelatto shop, Vinny Van Go Go's pizza, and Savannah's beautiful squares. The hotel showed none of the signs of "we've got a great a location, so we don't have to keep the hotel nice" and had the most consistently friendly staff I believe I've ever encountered. I don't believe I passed anyone who wasn't smiling and greeting guests.

This hotel is located on W. Bay St. which is walking distance to everything. The hotel staff were very nice and accomodating. Special thanks to the hotel concierge who was able to get us reservations to Paula Deen's restaurant. Thank you!

When I read these reviews, I am mainly looking for comments about good location and decent size clean rooms. This hotel has both. It made for an enjoyable stay. You can find reasonable prices for this Hilton Garden Inn online.

The front desk help was very friendly and helpful. We received a great welcome, and everyone on the staff that we had contact with was helpful and friendly.

The room was very clean and large (more room than we needed), plus the two queen beds were comfortable! The bathroom was clean and everything was in its place.

We had the breakfast buffet each morning, and we were was pleased with the service, quality and selection of the food.

As far as location goes - - this hotel is right on the main road (Bay Street) down by the river. You can easily walk to everything (and we did). We did not rent a car for our 3 days weekend and we didn't regret that decision at all. The City Market square is only 2 minutes away and "Club One" nightclub is right around the corner from the hotel. There are other hotels lining Bay street, and there are some more upscale hotels right on the river (Bohemian, Hyatt), but I wouldn't pay much more to stay in those. This Hilton Garden Inn is right in the heart of the historic district and and 5 minute walk to the river. There are many bars, restaurants, shopping and site-seeing within a short walking distance.
