Description: For over 90 years, Johnny Harris Restaurant has been a staple of Historic Savannah dining. Three public dining rooms: the "Kitchen", the "Ballroom" with high starlit ceiling, and the Maple Room Tavern all provide an eclectic atmosphere for your dining enjoyment. The signature BBQ sauces are a great compliment to the famous pit-smoked items, and the secret recipe fried chicken is not to be missed. Family ownership gives this restaurant an intimate feel despite it's size, and the restaurant cookbook, penned by Julie D. Lowenthal, is a must take home keepsake. Private dining room bookings are available as well as adjacent banquet facilities with seating up to 200.

Had a great lunch here today! The BBQ plate hit the spot, and did not take long from order to delivery. You can tell the employees are loyal and love their jobs. Never had to ask for a refill, and promptly cleared the table. Will return soon.

Recommended by staff at hotel when I spent the night in town on business. Gave it a try and found the ribs to be overlooked and aquifer dry, even with the sauce added. The fries were hot but undercooked and mushy on the inside. Service was OK since the place was almost empty. Hope the locals find an alternative that will give them real BBQ.

Johnny Harris' Restaurant was very likely the worst dining experience I've had in years. Service was abysmally slow, to the extent that 45 minutes after ordering my appetizer I had to go to management and ask if they had actually prepared any crab stew that day. When it arrived finally it was as though the cook had lost the salt cellar in the stew. That turned out to be impossible, because the ribs were so salty as to be in edible. The Brunswick stew was too thick, devoid of flavor and overs-salted as well. Our server forgot to bring our slaw, bit when reminded he brought it right away - an hour and a half after we had originally ordered our dinners. It was good, in fact the best part of the meal. But by then I was totally turned off.

Had the noon rib special today. A young man by the name of Gent waited on me. What a gentleman. Wonder how he got his name. The sauce on the ribs was a spiced up version of their original sauce. These were not run of the mill ribs. They had a sweet tangy flavor. They were very tender. The Brunswick stew clearly had a depth of flavor. I suggested that they can this recipe and sell it in grocery stores. The french fries were fresh and you could tell they were hand cut. Overall Great visit. Love the ambiance and historical atmosphere.

Definitely wasn't impressed with this restaurant. I had pork platter with slaw, fries, and Brunswick stew. Stew wasn't hot, hated BBQ sauce, and the slaw wasn't even good. I usually love every coleslaw I try. Don't waste your money here. The worst BBQ restaurant in my town is better than this place! Service was slow also.
