Description: Driftaway Cafe specializes in "casual coastal cuisine" with an emphasis on flavor and fun! Driftaway Cafe was created out of the desire to serve the surrounding neighborhoods and businesses fresh local seafood in a fun and friendly atmosphere. Our vision was to offer our guests a quick bite to "eat out" or the opportunity to stay and "dine" whether or not it is a quick taco with a cold beer or one of our featured nightly entrees with a nice bottle of wine. We were set to open on September 11th, 2001! What a horrible day that was for all Americans. We postponed our opening so that terrible day would not be our anniversary. Needless to say, our first year was quite a challenge, but with the support of God, friends and family we continue to strive forward everyday. We specialize in made to order fresh local seafood dishes, fresh garden salads along with a variety of appetizers and sandwiches. Our talented Kitchen staff showcases their skills with nightly entree specials. We are known for our friendly atmosphere and our fun environment. We feature live music a few nights a week and have been blessed with a great staff and a regular repeat clientele! Driftaway Cafe Is a locally owned restaurant located near the Wormsloe Plantation and the historic Isle of Hope. Owners, Robyn and Michele, have been in business together for the last two decades in Savannah. They work hard as a team and have developed a great staff that have been taught to treat each person that walks through the doors not as just another customer, but as a guest in their own home. They work hard to instill a passion for food, fun, flavor and family into everyone they meet!

Driftaway Cafe is a charming dining spot that has a very local, the usual crowd feel to it. It is somewhat surprising the quality and presentation of meals here, much more like a higher end restaurant. This little cafe is a true coastal town spot. A quaint bar area and lovely dining, both indoor and out. We ate outside one afternoon and though it was near 90 outside, we were quite comfortable on the covered porch. Our apps included calamari- tender, lightly battered/fried and very tasty w/ the tangy dipping sauce and the Bleu chips- a huge favorite with homemade potato chips and bleu cheese, all the fixin's. Our meals included very FRESH catch of scallops and halibut. Each prepared lovely with beautiful, tasty accompaniments such as pasta and fried rice/mozarella cake. On of the special dishes was papardelle pasta and pulled pork- a very delightful surpise treat. We thoroughly enjoyed the dining experience in total. This is our second visit and we promised we'd make sure to come more regularly- with such a diverse menu of chicken, fish, seafood, and steak dishes, it will be easy to keep coming back for more.

Wonderful little neighborhood restaurant in Sandfly, on the Southside of Savannah, and easily reached by taking the Truman Expressway from downtown Savannah. This is a favorite watering hole and restaurant of the locals, so may be off the usual tourist routes. The atmosphere is Island Dining, with a diverse menu that is well prepared. Service is fast and personal. A recent renovation and update of the interior walls with lighter paint and nautical themes has brightened up the interior decor. They have a sun room seating area with booths that seat up to 4, an interior room for larger parties, and bar seating. They also have outside seating on a patio.

We started our lunch with the Crab Dip appetizer and it was yummy. I had the Fish & Chips, my wife had the shrimp tacos and my son had the tuna tacos. All were very tasty. This place gets crowded at standard meal times, so go a little early or come a little late for easy seating. We love the sun room area that overlooks a little waterfall, tropical garden scenario. Lots of great non-seafood items on the menu also, as you would expect, since the local's don't always want seafood.

Some of the best fried grouper I have eve had in a fish taco. All choices were nicely prepared, creative, with a spicy tendency. Nice wine list and great service. Busy place so plan to wait.

Driftaway is not downtown but its a must try. They have big portions so you won't leave hungry. I've gone for lunch and dinner both were great. The salmon BLT is my favorite thing on the menu. They also have music on the patio.

We have moved to a neighborhood near this restaurant and it quickly became our new favorite place. The food is excellent and they have gluten free options that my husband enjoys (the Jerk Salmon Salad is a favorite for both of us!). Also, we don't feel out of place when we bring our 7 month old. Also, we love the outdoor seating in nice weather and the cats are entertaining.
