Description: One of the city's most consistently stylish restaurants evokes a low-key, counterculture bistro, but its cuisine is grander and more cutting-edge than its industrial-looking decor and its level of hipness would imply. Wrapped in warm brick and cool steel, the Sapphire Grill has steeped itself in a history of fine culinary tradition. Christopher Nason is the owner and the most talked about chef of the moment in Savannah, preparing what he defines as a "coastal cuisine" based on seafood hauled in on the day of its preparation from nearby waters. From seasonal chanterelles and oregon black truffles, to the most tender cuts of meat and delicate seafood, Chef Nason and his team work feverishly to keep Sapphire at the mark expected of her.

“Very bad overall experience”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 24, 2013

I've left a full detail review on yelp, but I will try do a short summary here as I realize long reviews are boring.
1.) Even with Anniversary reservations, we were seated late at a bad table, while several other tables were available.
2.) The restaurant was out of several dishes at 9pm on a Thursday.
3.) A friend of the staff was drunk, loud, and occasionally offensive during the entire course of our meal.
4.) My husband's food came out terrible and my side was forgotten.
5.) They rushed my side (and in the course burnt it) and rushed my husband's second dish leaving it under-cooked. Since his second dish was the same as my main dish, we had something to compare it to.
6.) Even though the server noticed that the second dish and side dish was barely touched and my husband mentioned it was not good, apparently no one besides her and us seemed to care.
7.) Management did not feel all of these bad experiences on our anniversary warranted talking to us anymore after the second dish/side were deemed bad, and instead ate at the bar with the drunk aforementioned customer.

Although I am sure this restaurant is fine or even great some of the time, the fact they could mess up so many things means you could have a very disappointed evening. Hopefully it won't be an anniversary like ours.

“Anniversary Dinner”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 24, 2013

We called ahead and got reservations for our 30th anniversary dinner. The waiter was attentive and always made sure that we had what we needed. The menu had such variaton that even individuals that don't eat meat had the choice of wonderful fresh seafood.
I would recommend the Sapphire Grill Brouillaisse and the Benne Encrusted Black Grouper if you enjoy seafood. Both were tastey and excellently prepared.
For dessert we had the flourless chocolate Torte which was perfect. We had mentioned that is was our anniversary and the chef sent up 2 chocolate covered strawberries on a plate which had Happy Anniversary spelled out in chocolate. A perfect ending to a perfect dinner.

“Amazing food and service!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 16, 2013 via mobile

I had a reservation at Sapphire Grille for over a month for 6 people. We were 30 minutes late and had 2 more people joining us. The host sat us right away and we began to enjoy a wonderful meal. The service was amazing with a server who understood the menu and could describe each dish perfectly. I would 100% recommend this restaurant and will definitely return!

“True Gem in the Historic District”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 15, 2013

Tucked away in an old building about a block from City Market this is this small upscale bistro style restaurant with great service and great food. Server, Daniel, was very attentive and sensitive to my wife's dietary restrictions, even going so far as to return to our table and ask if the chef should avoid preparing her food in anything that had even touched the ingredients that she was allergic to. I would highly recommend the black grouper! Reservations are a must and can be done on Opentable from your smartphone. Expect to pay around $200 for a nice dinner for two with a good bottle of wine. Chef offers two tasting dinners, one with only vegetables for vegans (nice touch). Nice selection of healthy choice dishes that are elegantly plated. Highly recommend.
