“Walking & Talking Tour”
Reviewed March 20, 2013

My wife and I decided to take a walking tour of historic Savannah. We chose Tony Higgins and were not disappointed. We did not just have the normal factual information like most walking tours but we loved the personal touch with wonderful and colorful stories that made the whole experience interesting and so enjoyable. It was like the difference between a boring teacher and someone who brought history to life. We would highly recommend Tony Higgins.

“The best way to learn about a great city!”
Reviewed March 20, 2013

20 March 2013
Yesterday, we signed up for a walking tour of the 'elegant homes' of Savannah with a British gentleman named Tony Higgins. We were cautious, as these type of tours can be more boisterous and commercial than informative, but both of us are interested in history, so off went.
Tony is knowledgeable, and clearly tells a wonderful history of this truly great city which has been an integral part of this country's history since 1733, through Georgia's role at separating Florida from South Carolina, through the Revolutionary War, up to the Civil War (Georgia was the last state to join the Confederacy) with the fantastic wealth from cotton, Sherman's saving of Savannah as a 'Christmas gift' to Lincoln, and its reconstruction thereafter. In addition, the almost as exciting story of how this city has transformed itself from a 'true mess' in the 1970s to probably the most exciting city of our times in this country.
Tony Higgins does all of this with accuracy, calm, humor, attentiveness to his listeners and a very wonderful sense to provide a true insight into learning about Savannah, its history and its architecture.
Needless to say, we recommend this walking tour as FIVE STAR.
It is a tragedy that the concierges of the hotels in Savannah are incredibly employed by the tour bus companies, and therefore do not promote this tour, which is many times more informative and accurate than that given on the bus tours. We have done both, and would recommend that the bus tour be taken as a means of getting an overlay of Savannah...but to learn the history of Savannah, TAKE TONY's Walking Tour.
With appreciation to Tony,
Bob Lanphier and Joanie Peck

“History of Savannah comes alive with Tony Higgins!”
Reviewed March 15, 2013

Tony Higgins is a wonderfully knowledgeable guide who has done his homework. He recounts the history of Savannah while walking through the historic district for two plus hours and tells the stories of the colorful characters who have lived here and enriched the city. He's informative and fun and provides a perfect introduction to Savannah.

“Wonderful Walking Tour!!!!”
Reviewed February 8, 2013

My sisters and I wanted a tour that was filled with history and information to give us a sense of the city, as we only had a day. We took a trolley tour the afternoon before to give us an overview, the driver's jokes were distracting and you didn't get a sense of the city as you did by walking.

By contrast, Mr. Higgins did exactly that. We had a 2 + hour tour and were fascinated by his stories. He is very knowledgeable and will cater his tour to your interests. His tour was a highlight of our trip and we felt very lucky. We walked through at least six squares, hearing history, learning about the architecture, people and various other facts of the city. We absolutely loved it! He gave great tips on restaurants as well. Walking is definitely the way to see this city and experiencing it with Mr. Higgins is a great way to go. We highly recommend choosing him for your tour guide.
