Our son is a railroad fan. We have visited a lot of railroad museum across north America. Mostly in Canada but also in the USA. It was by far the less interesting one of them all. Not that much to see or read. The museum need a bit of TLC to be worth the visit. I guess the people who quoted it 4-5 haven’t travelled that much.

Mostly a self-guided tour with random opportunities for guides to present more information and explanation. The handcart activity is fun. Easy museum to visit with kids.

Worth the visit. Tours were interesting and informative. Being able to walk through the train yard buildings and roundhouse was a bonus since you can see not only the static display but the workings of a historic train yard operation. There are many people working to improve the experience for future visits and to preserve the important history. Take the "tours". They are informative and the only way you can go through 2 of the static display passenger cars. The short train ride tour is worth while too. Tours are included in the price of admission.

The Georgia State Railroad Museum is a great place for train enthusiasts. They have an original turntable on site and many of the original buildings on the site. There are many different engines at the site as well and there are a couple of train cars that you can go aboard. Very interesting place.

A small, but interesting piece of history. It could have been better. All the rail cars were locked so you could only go in as part of the docent led tours. The exhibits were all outdoors, so it's an early morning or Spring/Fall activity. Finally, except for a few planned presentations throughout the day, there are no docents on hand to explain things.
