“Short Train Ride”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 8, 2012

If you like history of railroads, don't miss it. You can even take a short train ride...like 100 yds. That was kind of disappointing but the rest was good with several tours available through old train cars, etc. My wife looked bored again.

“Lots of History”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 4, 2012

So if you like trains this is a must. We ask about the train ride guy selling the tickets said it was about 30 min. long what he forgot to say is you ride down the track for 3 min. and they talk for 12 then ride back for 3 min and then ride down a different track and talk for another 12 min. SO do not go for the ride and don't let your kids get to excited very short ride. still very enjoyable seeing the trains and enough to do to keep the kids moving around.

Make sure you call for their hours, as it varies with summer heat. My four year old loves it. It is educational, new and well thought out.

“History abounds...”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 14, 2012

If you're into history - this place fills the bill. A combination of the history of Savannah with the history of the region's railroad history, this facility takes you back to the mid-1800's where you'll get to ride on an actual steam locomotive (albeit only a few feet...) - but you do experience the "turntable" - a device that turns the trains around and allows them to be moved into one of dozens of repair bays. There's also a cool area for kids (5-12) to explore and enjoy. I will say that a train ride should take you on a trip exceeding 100 feet... just sayin'...
