“An unique experience to view the islands, dolphins and ocean. Unforgettable!”
Reviewed April 2, 2014

April 1st, 2014. I scheduled this trip for my husband for our anniversary. We have boating experience although neither of us had ever been on a sailboat as large as Zangara. She is beautiful and we had a fantastic day for sailing. Captain Steve and crew member Marco were thoughtful, informative and made our trip very pleasurable. Definitely well worth the money! This is a must for anyone going to Tybee Island or Savanna! Unforgettable!

“Nice sail even in crummy weather”
Reviewed January 2, 2014

Like some of the other reviewers, we had just a few days on Tybee Island and called Steve on pretty short notice to ask about a half day sail with another couple. He was very flexible and accommodating. The weather was cold rain and drizzle in January, gray water, gray sky, but it was still fun. The boat has a dodger (canopy over the cockpit) so we could get out of the rain. The Morgan 384 is a solid, comfortable boat and looking back from the bow, even pretty in its lines. Steve's son Zach came along as crew and that added to the funny, interesting conversation. We were two couples so we had a total of six on the boat and we had still plenty of room to spare. All of us even fit okay in the cockpit. Lots of dolphins and birds to see even in the middle of all the nasty weather. Of course Steve knows the area very well so he can time the trip and gauge the wind perfectly. On some charters you get the vibe that the captain and crew think, "here we go again, another batch of tourists who have never been in a rowboat." Steve and Zach were completely different, comfortable, friendly, you'd want to go to dinner with them after the sail. On our trip we had almost no wind so we motored at least one-third the time, nice and smooth. Next time we come down maybe we'll have sunny warm weather and we can do some real sailing, but even in bad weather we had lots of fun and we'd definitely recommend Compass Sailing.

“Perfectly Accomodating”
Reviewed December 26, 2013

While my wife was in town, I had a fairly small window of opportunity to take her on a chartered sailing trip. Captain Steve was perfectly accommodating working around his Christmas plans and the weather to provide a wonderful sailing experience. Steve is a patient teacher and skipper. While teaching us about the beauty of sailing, he also taught us about the local estuary, pointed out local wildlife and dolphins all during periods of intermittent low visibility and fog. Steve and Zingara have our highest recommendations.

“Great time for all!”
Reviewed October 13, 2013

I booked a 4 hour sailing trip with Capt. Steve for my parents' 40th wedding anniversary. My husband and I were with them on a trip to Savannah. My mother has sailed most of her life and really enjoyed "talking shop" with Capt. Steve. He is extremely knowledgeable about sailing and makes everyone feel at home as soon as they step a board. We had a wonderful sail and saw several groups of dolphins - made for great memories for everyone. Thank you Captain Steve!

My daughter and I sailed with Capt. Steve for some further sailing education and training. He is experienced and an excellent skipper-an excellent choice for anyone wanting to sail in the Savannah area.
