The brochure says this is the Best African American History Tour in Savannah. I really can't imagine a tour being better. There were only two of us on the tour. Our tour guide was "Jamal." He was awesome! You could really tell that imparting the history of Savannah's African American culture is his passion. Although, as this narrative indicates, this tour involned African American history, it's not just important to the black population. (My friend is caucasian!) This is the history of Savannah!
This tour lasted about 2-2.5 hours and included information on the first black church in Savannah, the underground railroad, the involvement of the Haitians and other countrymen and the economics of the city. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone who enjoys learning about history. The cost was $25, although you will want to tip your guide, if he is even half the tour guide that "Jamal" was.
