“Your own private mansion in Savannah”
Reviewed September 27, 2011

I fell in love with my room at the Zeigler House (Auvergne) as I was looking for accommodation in Savannah, and it turned out to be even better for real. Hardwood floors, great light through 4 large windows, and one of the best beds I ever slept in. It was a large room and bathroom, very clean and with fluffy towels and bed sheets. If that wasn't enough, the small fridge was fully stocked with water, your indicated juice preferences, bread and milk to set you up for breakfast, along with fresh fruit.
That alone would grant the 5 stars, but Jackie was a really pleasant host, with great tips for sightseeing and dining, and a very skilled cook on her own, as the pastries she continuously supplies (in your room or in the living area) is to die for. There is free coffee, tea and biscuits in the living room at all times. Let's not mention the wine and canapes at 5...I just wish I could eat more!
All in all, this is a beautiful, well tendered inn located in one of the most beautiful streets in the historic district. It's a beautiful mansion with period features, where you feel comfortable and not like in a museum. You have your own keys to the house and room, so it feels like being in your own stately home in Savannah. Despite being on a corner, there is little or no noise in the room. And you can perfectly walk to the restaurants closer to the river, or kick back at nearby Forsyth Park.

I really enjoyed my stay here and would not consider staying anywhere else. Thank you Jackie!

Room Tip: Rooms are very quiet, even those facing the street.

We spent two nights here while on a leisure trip to explore Savannah. Jackie is an incredibly gracious host and gave us all the information we needed to make the most of our Savannah trip. We stayed in the Versailles room and loved it. It is very spaciouos with a separate dining/dressing room. The bathroom is average size but was plenty for us. The room faces toward two streets but ther ei shardly any traffic. We liked that we could make our own breakfast at whatever time suited us and the kitchenette was well stocked. The baked goods were delicious but just way too much for us. We saved them for coffee and afternoon tea... Savannah is a beautiful little town and so easily explored on foot. The Zeigler house is situated on a beautiful street and is literally 10 minutes from everything - Forsyth Park, the Riverfront and all the fantastic squares are just minutes away. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay - thank you Jackie!

This place was amazing since minute 1!! Even before while we were making our reservations Jackie was so attentive to details....and we would see that even more when we got to Savannah. She remembered we were vegetarian and didn't drink so she made every effort for our stay to be the best possible. She makes sure you eat in the best places and have the best tours of the city. She even got the vegetarian dishes of the restaurant we were going to have dinner at. The room was absolutly suppurb, AMAZING bed and sheets, chocolates everywhere (perfect for a chocoholic!), beautiful bathroom and varanda! The details all around the house just make you feel in a royal home: baked goods, tea, coffee, chocolate...and not to mention breakfast. I was kind of worried at first about the breakfast already being in our rooms when we got there to be eaten the next day. I thought that maybe it wouldnt be so fresh...but when we helped ourselves in the morning with all those amazing pastries....OMG!!!! Jackie is the best cook ever!! She makes everything from scratch and serves different things everyday...and the best part?? you can eat breakfast whenever you feel like it!!! If you wake up late, who cares? If you have a 5 am trip to go to (like we did), who cares?? Just wake up and serve yourself to this amazing breakfast! The location is just to die for...Jones St. is sooooo beautiful and its right in the middle of the historic district, close to ANYWHERE you would want to go in Savannah. And the bonus was the happy hour...WOW!! She made a Salmon sandwich just for us and it was so good we could have ate them all.

The sad part is that Jackie had just lost her brother when we were there and still she kept a smile on her face and was amazing. What a lovely person to be around...Thank you so much Jackie for helping us to see Savannah through your heart! We will never forget it.

We stayed at the Zeigler House for three nights in the LaGrange Suite. This was a perfect base for exploring Savannah. The house is beautiful, tastefully furnished, and comfortable. Jackie is an amazing hostess who has thought of everything, including DVDs and popcorn for your own evening movie night. Each morning brings homemade, fresh pastries. Jackie and the Zeigler House set an incredibly high bar few other B and B's could meet.

We chose the Zeigler House Inn for our recent vacation based on the reviews we read. After having an incredible experience, we felt compelled to also write a review. Jackie is a very gracious innkeeper - available if you need her, but will not bother you if you don't. She made fantastic "off the beaten path" restaurant, spa, and activity suggestions and made all of our reservations for us, without question. The room was clean and spotless with every detail considered. The custom bed was so comfortable! Her deliciously fresh daily pastries and additional healthy in-suite breakfast options allowed us to eat on our own time without feeling rushed to meet someone else's schedule. The daily "happy hour" of cold drinks and treats was very inviting and a great way to relax after a day of sight-seeing. The inn is very centrally located, enabling us to walk almost anywhere in Savannah, yet still remain in a quiet, residential neighborhood. We highly recommend this inn!

If you want to experience what it would be like to live in the historic district of fabulous Savannah, then this inn will not disappoint. The owner, Jackie, provides a warm welcome and a continuous supply of fabulous baked treats, coffees, and other refreshments to help the days start and end in a most agreeable fashion. Our rooms were kept clean and comfortable (the bed was almost too comfortable to leave). But it was perhaps the surprises, such a a slice of freshly made key lime pie before retiring, and a July 4th display in our room with sweets and sparklers that makes the Zeigler House an exceptional place to stay.
