“Great walking tour - well worth the time”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 19, 2013

We had one full day in Savannah and wanted to get a sense of place beyond looking at the outside of buildings. Savannah is a perfect city for walking so we chose a walking tour with Jack Wray at "Historic Savannah By Foot". It was everything we expected and more. We signed up for the combination tour of the Colonial Savannah History and Civil War Savannah History tours. Jack is energetic, knowledgeable, positive - adapting the tour to our interests and energy - a great ambassador for Savannah. We learned and gained new perspectives on the history of Savannah but also the history of our nation. I wanted to be sure to take the time to write this review because it was such a fascinating experience - Jack made history come alive. Most definitely worth the time...

“Great tour for families!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 14, 2013

I'm a 30 year old who took a trip to Savannah with my parents and we wanted to explore the city a bit more by a more unconventional route than the typical trolley. We lucked out and had Jack to ourselves. He was fantastic! He answered all our questions, showed us many of the squares and talking points in the city, took cues as to how fast or slow we had to go, and was extremely knowledgeable. It helped expand what we had read in travel books, and taught us so much more. Jack is great and had us chuckling at many points. All of us would definitely recommend this tour to any of our friends visiting Savannah.

“Very interesting walking tour of savannah”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 7, 2013 via mobile

If you would like a personal, informative tour of historic savannah, Jack's tour is the way to go. I am not much of a history buff, but my husband & sons (in their 20s) are. I thought I would go along to make this a family outing. How wrong I was! Jack kept us intrigued and asking many questions during the 3 he tour. If you want a good understanding of how the city was founded and the history behind, this is the tour to do. I saw many people walking from square to square just reading the signs, but you do not get the wealth of information jack provides.

“Colonial Walk great for all ages!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 5, 2013

Found Jack Wray through Trip Advisor. He was very accomodating and prompt. After a quick "interview" with us to determine our interests and level of knowledge about historic Savannah we were off on foot! He shared history and insights from colonial days all the way through to the stories of John Mercer and the book we hadn't read yet; from political to economic to human interest stories, Jack kept our 15 and 19 year old kids interested from start to finish! Avoid the trolley tours - This is the way to go!!

“Very interesting tour”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 2, 2013

What a great tour! Even though we had been to Savannah several times, we had never gotten a really good tour. Jack Wray's combination tour was the way to go! He had so much to share about the history and many really good stories to go along with it. He really knows the city and helped us to fall in love with this gem of a city also. I can't wait to go back and explore more deeply the things we saw and learned about on this tour! We highly recommend it...it was a bit long (almost 4 hours), but totally worth it for me!
