First of all when we tried to book this on a Sun. for a Tues. tour. they said there was only one spot open, but sometimes they add spots and ticket agent gave us direct #. We contacted them and asked if they can accomidate a party of 4 they said they would check and call us back. They added a second tour for us (a party of 5 also joined our tour on the day.) Next we had some dietary restrictions. Each resturant made some alternate selections to accomidate us. Lastly the tour guide Charlotte was personable, knowledgeable ,and just a lot of fun to be with. It was educational and interesting as well as fun.
Not to much walking and frequent stops for eating. Coupons to purchase at locations toured. A great way to tour a city.

This fun food tour started down by the river at Bernie's Oyster House for a Seafood sampler, the onto B and D Burgers for Fried Green Tomatoes with pimento cheese, Tondee's Tavern for Shrimp and Grits, Molly MacPherson's, The Salt Table, a fun cupcake shop, and Savannah Bee Company. The best part was our awesome tour guide who gave us such a comprehensive and informative tour of the beautiful city of Savannah. What a great way to spend a day! I highly recommend!

Hubby and I decided to go to Savannah for the weekend, first time there but can't wait to go back, what a great city! Being the owner of Naples Food Tours in Naples FL I always check out the local culinary scene so booked the Savannah Taste Experience First Squares Food Tour. Met our guide Ruth Ann at Bernie's Oyster House and the fun began. Had a friendly group of 13 all visiting from other states. Ruth Ann was a wonderful guide and although not a local, told us lots about Savannah's history, which was the perfect accompaniment to the delicious samplings at Bernie's Oyster House, Tondee's Tavern, B&D Burgers, Molly MacPherson's Pub, The Salt Table, Mabel Potter's Cupcake Emporium and Savannah Bee Company. The stops were well chosen, the tastings generous and delicious and we had a great time. Thank goodness for Savannah's beautiful shady squares, because it was brutally hot - even though we live in a hot humid place ourselves, we don't typically spend much time walking outdoors in the summer, so make sure you wear a hat, suncream and stay hydrated.
Can't wait to go back - probably when It's cooler :) Will take the East Side tour next! Looking forward to seeing y'all again!

This was so much fun, yummy & informative the entire time. I've been to Savannah dozens of times; I'm an Atlanta native so this is frequently a vacation location (just 4 hour drive). This might be the most fun tour I've done so far. Can't wait to try the East Side tour next time I'm in town. Thanks again, Charlotte!

Savannah Taste experience offers 2 tours, the Four Squares Walking Food tour for $45.00 and the Famous and Secret East Side tour for $54. We opted for the more savory Famous & Secret East Side tour. We met up with our tour guide Irene at the infamous Pirate house where we were treated to their appetizing Fried Chicken drizzled in pecans and honey. One word...WOWZER! This was so crispy and succulent, we could have stayed there. They served up cocktails and soda as well as glasses of water. Though Country's Iced Tea (Long Island with a southern twist) sounded yummy, I had the Release the Kracken, a perfect blend of liquors, juice and a splash of coke for coloring. Country and Irene gave us the history of the Pirate House complete with notorious shang-hais and ghosts and the adjoining Herb House. I was time to head and Country made sure we knew we didn't have to down our drinks as you don't have to "brown bag it". As we walked through the City of Savannah, Irene, a transplant from Boston, was full of information about the various buildings and squares we passed. Next, we stopped in a very little known, and quite off the beaten path called Walls Bar-B-Que. It's nestled in an alleyway and has a very limited opening. The place is known to locals and students. Here we got to taste the pulled pork and it was so good, you didn't need the sauce! Two were offered, a more mustard and a spicy. We didn't think the spicy was all that, well, spicy but it was good. Irene gave us the history of the street layout, alleys, and building restoration. Just quickly we had delicious salmon crustini ( I liked he crustini best), Asian fusion shrimp skewers (were very accommodating to those in our group of 6 who were allergic to the shrimp, replacing it with chicken, papillote chicken sandwich (as seen on Man vs. Food) which we ate in one of the squares and then down to River Street where the tour ended with a visit to Savannah's Pralines, a candy shop for Savannah's favorite pralines. We also got to watch them make this sweet, savory treat and witness them pulling taffy. It was a hot day and Irene made sure that we stayed hydrated. She was entertaining and informative. As first time visitors to the city, highlights were that we learned a lot of the history of Savannah as well as of its notoriety. Savannah Taste experience walking tour was definitely money and time will spent.
