“Comfortable enough but a bit sketchy”
Reviewed June 9, 2011

Im writing this review from the Extended Stay America on Abercorn just down the road from the other place. Im relocating to the Savannah area and originally booked the Suburban Extended stay where I stayed my first night in the area. It was the cheapest place in the area and cleaner than here. Right now im wishing I was back there. The room was smaller but in much better condition. The bed was comfortable enough. My only problem with the place was that the people there were pretty damn sketchy. Rolled up to the place to a bunch of little thugs in training ballin in the parking lot. The cheap price definitely doesnt bring out Savannahs finest. I looked out through the peep hole of my door about fifty times to make sure my car was still there. The Extended Stay down the road is way shittier tho.

Room Tip: Don't be a cheapass and get a real hotel.

Convenient to shopping and historic District. Got 2 rooms. One had things that other did not like hair dryer, Blanket, and desk chair. Asked for blanket, did not have one for me. Could have been cleaner, better vacumed, Drinking glasses dirty in one room. Many stains in carpet one room. No Pool, Nicely equipt kitchen. Overall good for Price.

I arrived Sunday evening. I inspected the room:
1. Kitchenette: silverware greasy and visually dirty; microwave, wet grits-like spill all over
2. Toilet: ring around it, toilet had recent splashes:
I figured, okay when housekeeping comes Monday I will ask them to clean it; 5pm Monday comes, there was no house keeping; so I called the front desk. "you only get housekeeping if you stay here longer then a week" "I am" "So housekeeping will come next Monday" "WHAT"???
3. Bed: looked funny to me so I upturned the quit, No blanket. Two Pillows (one for each person in the room; when I asked for more pillows "you only get two per room;" "we don't have any blankets" Huh? What kind of hotel only gives two pillows? and no blanket? (they found a blanket eventually, but these items keep "walking off")

Perks: Shopping near by: supermarket, nice complex with Chicos, JOS A Bank, several other nice stores; Orthodox Jewish synagogue across the street, with JCC down the road (walkable if you can stand the heat); spa in another complex slightly also within walking distance

The hotel clerks were nice, but had little knowledge of things to do in the area, and cannot give good directions whatsoever. The room was alright, worth the amount of money that we paid. The closet doesn't have doors, the rooms were a lot smaller than the pictures make it look. The floors and counter tops were filthy and the tile was sticky. The lamp hanging above our table was filled with dead bugs. The toilet seat was busted. The walls are also on the thin side. The elevators and hotel grounds were dirty. It is a good hotel if you are looking for a cheap place to stay, but don't have high expectations.

We just wanted to get away from from everything for a while . Everything was very nice and the desk clerks were helpful. The manager was very nice, also. We're looking forward to going back.

We stayed here in February for 5 days and had a satisfactory stay. So when we relocated to Savannah in May we booked a longer stay while we completed the moving process. This second stay was so unsatisfactory that we checked out early and went to another hotel.

The most annoying problem was consistent plumbing noises, howling pipes. Obviously, faucets in one or more other units needed adjustment. This is a common plumbing problem and easily fixed. However it received no attention during the 5 days we were there.

The television set in our room did not receive a signal on 3 major networks, NBC, CBS,and PBS. We reported the problem on a Friday evening, the first time we had used the set, and were told that there were no maintenance services on the weekend and that it would be attended to on Monday. On Monday evening the same channels were unavailable, and we reported this to the front desk.

The clerk seemed annoyed that we were persisting in our request and responded in a cool and perfunctory manner that it would be attended to. While the front desk clerks never became rude or hostile, it was apparent that they considered us chronic complainers and were decidedly cool and impersonal in our interchanges.

We left the following day and checked into a nearby Homewood Suites where we are enjoying a very pleasant stay.

If you are looking to stay in a clean, friendly and safe place - Extended Stay is it! About 10 minutes from downtown historic Savannah, but it is a great deal, the front desk staff is AWESOME, the rooms are clean and you have a full kitchen to save even more money on eating out. Glad I found it!
