This morning my wife and I had the wonderful experience of touring Bonaventure Cemetery with Susan as our guide. So many of the stories of 17th, 18th and 19th Century Savannah end in Bonaventure Cemetery. Susan is a born story teller. She has the breadth and depth of knowledge from which to draw the details that make the stories of and memorials to those buried in the plots come alive. Her humor, energy and enthusiasm are boundless. She encourages questions and uses them as opportunities to briefly digress into interesting areas just beyond the planned scope of the tour. Like every naturally talented teacher Susan keeps it interesting, lively and, most importantly, whets one's appetite for much more information about the subject.
Susan' tour of Bonaventure is well worth the price. Be advised, though, this is not a "ghost" or paranormal tour. There will be no mention of that. You will have to take another of Susan's tours for that. But some of the things she will recount about some of the people buried in Bonaventure are definitely stranger than fiction.
