We had previously visited Savannah a few years ago, but that was before we started looking for cooking classes in the places we visit. We found this one online and fortunately, one was offered the day we'd be visiting. After being in Charleston the previous week, we'd eaten a lot of seafood, shrimp, and grits. But learning how to make the dish was a great tool to "take home" and this one didn't disappoint. Although the class is not hands-on, I was able to replicate the dish without any difficulty once I got home (I actually had to order the stone-ground grits online; they are not available anywhere in our metro area). Nicole, the co-owner of the store, taught the class. Throughout the class, she would use various kitchen gadgets, which were also for sale in the store. The class was about 6 people, and it took just over 2 hours. The other two dishes were a fresh kale and lettuce salad w/homemade dressing, and dessert -- a banana-bread "twinkie" (baked in a pan with multiple Twinkie-shapes) filled with vanilla whipped cream. The twinkies had been baked before class to save time. We did have time to browse thru the store while the shrimp & grits went thru the final baking stage. The food (3 recipes) were very good. Definitely a unique and fun store to shop from, too!

Thank you for your feedback on our Shrimp n' Grits 101, challengefish! We're so pleased to hear you had such a great time during your class and we're even happier to hear you were able to easily recreate the dish at home! Thank you also for the images of your meal--it's always helpful for our first-timers to get a sense of the delicious meal ahead of them from guests who have already enjoyed it all! Let us know the next time you're in need of grits as we sell those local Savannah stone-ground grits and we can ship all over the states. And always check back with our website for yummy new shrimp n' grits recipes to try at home!

Until next time, happy cooking!

Curious kitchen items. Nicely decorated. Interesting finds. But please let the small yellow bird next to the counter fly free.

Thank you for your review, Juju B. We're glad you found our store to be interesting and hope you discovered some items that will make your kitchen smile!

The yellow bird you saw is our beloved canary, Pammy, who is showered with affection throughout the day (we can say without a doubt that we LOVE that little bird!). Pammy is from a long line of domesticated canaries first brought to Europe from the Canary Islands over 500 years ago. Being a domestic bird, Pammy could be seriously harmed if let loose from his cage and, outside the store, would be unable to acclimate to an environment with dangerous predators and a social structure with unfamiliar and unfriendly bird species. Please rest assured that we intend to provide Pammy with the best quality of life possible and will continue to make every effort to ensure that his home within our store is safe and comfortable.

We stumbled into the shop after a long day of shopping on our way back to our B & B and I think my boyfriend liked it better than me. I'm the cook in the family but he loved all of the neat little gadgets that they have for sale. The "utensil wind chimes" were awesome, I wish I could have bought one! If you love to cook and love everything kitchen, go here!

Thank you for your review, seminoleam! We're so happy y'all found our store during your walk around Savannah. The utensil mobiles you saw all around the store are made by a KOTS girl with vintage kitchenwares collected over the years (we do have wind chimes for sale! Next time you stop in, we'll happily point those out). We hope the store inspired your boyfriend to do some cooking too!
Come see us again soon!

This store had some of the most interesting kitchen items I've ever seen. Better than a trip to my local William Sanoma store.
