“A great stadium with a great past.”
Reviewed July 28, 2011

Current home of the Savannah Sand Gnats. The Gnats are a farm team of the Mets and play in the Sally (South Atlantic) league. As a fan of minor league baseball this was a must trip for me.
The stadium was undergoing an expansion and renovation when the second world war broke out. That is why some of the brickwork on the third base side was never completed.
This was the spring training site for the Philadelphia Athletics in 1947. The athletics went from 3 farm teams to12 making it a very busy training camp. The Lincoln Nebraska Athletics did their spring training here in 1947.

“Great Old Ballpark!”
Reviewed July 19, 2011

Great ballpark. An antique. Unique in that the left side of the ballpark does not have seats. Just a big picnic area. Great for kids who want to catch foul balls. On the right field side is a huge bar. Great for adults to catch a buzz.

“A Timeless Gem of a Ballpark”
Reviewed June 21, 2011

Historic Grayson Stadium, home of the Savannah Sand Gnats of the "A" level South Atlantic (Sally) League, is a throwback to the days when baseball was America's pastime. Except for a few hundred seats directly behind home plate, it's general admission and you can sit where you like. Overhead in the grandstand 5 20' diameter ceiling fans move the air around on humid Savannah nights and out on concourse I've seen giant floor fans with water drips in front of them throwing out a cooling mist on hot afternoon games. With a military discount I saw a recent game for $5, so it's very affordable in these tough times. The quality of play is pretty good.......the typical player in this league is about 21 and there's probably a couple of guys on each team that will at least get some time in the big leagues. All of them were certainly at least the best players on their high school teams. This is a can't miss experience for die-hard baseball fans and especially those who appreciate atmospheric ball-parks full of bright colors, good smells and the sounds of people enjoying themselves.
