Walk, eat, tour, places to relax and sit - loved every minute of it. There are statues for a quick history lesson - love this city.

My husband and I visited historic Savannah at the end of March. We were greeted by a city full of color with flowering azaleas everywhere, tranquil squares every so many blocks and elegantly restored homes. The area is easily walkable, but make sure to wear good shoes as some of the cobblestone sidewalks are uneven at times. Despite that, the history and stories of intrigue draw you into the charm of the area. The residents are friendly and the food is delicious. We took a tour of the Mercer-Williams house which was excellent, especially if you are a fan of the movie, Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. In fact, we visited several places shown in that movie all within walking distance. It is definitely an area we will return to explore again. If you go, make sure to take advantage of the hop on hop off trolley tour. It is well worth the money and invaluable for deciding where you would further like to investigate.

The riverfront was the least interesting as it was more of the expected tourist locales, but the squares inside the district are all unique, and the oaks are outstanding.

It was soooo much better than trying to find things by ourselves. Also, with a guide telling us about the squares, the history of the homes and giving us an update about the historic district we felt we knew it better.

The hop on-off trolleys give you a great overview and then you can go back to check more out during a slower pace and take more time in the town squares.
