Owner description: Savannah's picturesque historic district brings the traditional southern atmosphere to life.

There are many buildings to see like in other old southern seaports. I've read that crime is up in the area and many buildings seemed empty and for sale. Lots of bars and tourtist type coffee/ candy shops. Seems to be a city that is falling behind in keeping up appearances. You have to drive through some b.a.d. neighborhoods to get in there as well. Fernnadina Beach in Fl or Georgetown SC would be better coastal options in this range. Charleston would likely make a better trip but it does get crowded certain weekends.

The squares throughout the Historic District are a big part of why Savannah is so charming. We took the time to visit most of the squares, sit down on the benches and just relax. The only complaint...there are pan handlers in some of the more popular squares. I know the city is trying to cut down on this, but it's still somewhat of an issue.

Loved the busy city, very old and a lot of work has gone into the preservation of very old buildings

I would recommend taking a trolley your first time there, it's a little confusing trying to find things when you don't know where you are going.

Took the trolley first, then walked and the last day had a romantic carriage ride. It so beautiful in the spring. Lots of great places to eat. Beautiful old homes, and a great haunted Savannah tour
