there was so much to see and learn about savannah, and it was very interesting to see all the different statues, and read all the plaques. the 22 different squares make it easy to navigate around town in every direction, and keep your bearings.

Even though tour guides are everywhere in Savannah, my wife and I love to walk and take things in at our own pace. So we were delighted to find a book to buy ($7.00) that allowed you to walk the historic district and be your own guide. We took advantage of a package deal on three historic houses and museums. The small parks are wonderful places to stop and rest, and the many small eating places brake up the travel. We had lunch at an English style pub called Six Pence, which was very nice. Best of all we were able to tour the waterfront, do two house tours, guide ourselves through much city history, and even take in Forsyth Park, all in one day. We finished our Valentines Day tour with a fantastic dinner at the Olde Pink House. We could not have been happier with our tour of old historic Savannah.

All the museums are very good, the charges for some did not reflect the content.(expensive),the bus tour was the most informative and covered the history of the city, whereas the museums seemed to miss a trick and assumed the visitor had prior knowledge, but I feel there was more to the city than museums laid claim to,shame.

We took a trolley tour of this lovely city, but with more time it is very walkable and green. It is laid out on a grid with many lovely parks, churches and historic homes.
