The the traffic down River Street should be eliminated. There's really no need for it. You can't park there, nor is there much parking nearby... I agree with other reviewers that it could be much cleaner than it was. I've never been anywhere touristy that didn't have public restrooms (city owned) until Savannah. The strip here is mostly bars and tourist traps. Everyone trying to sell you something overpriced. We took pictures of items we liked and I'll go online and find them cheaper. If you're set on something, check the other stores first. I found that the stores all carry the same items and the prices can vary up to $6 per item depending on what store you get it at. If you're not intending on being drunk, I would avoid it at night.

if in town, you might as well walk the plaza. Bars, restaurants and shops galore. Okay, not great. Glad I experienced it while in town.

Could be much cleaner. Shouldn't let cars drive up and down the cobblestone strip. There's no place to park down there anyway. But what place in the South is pedestrian friendly?

Every tourist city has its traps and the Riverfront Plaza is it for Savannah. It’s a street lined with typical restaurants, t shirt shops, and knick knacks. Depending on how many stores you go in, it’s walkable in about an hour. The Riverboat tours also dock here and there are some vendor tents with some arts/crafts. While it’s a tourist trap, it’s worth an hour to walk around and take some pictures of the Cotton Exchange and river.

Great view of the river while you walk, cool shops, fun vendors and awesome local art. A great way to spend several hours or all day!
