Husband and I walked this area numerous times. There are many shops and food venues-something for everyone. We liked the positive energy that this place exuded. Prices ranged from a few dollars, on up.

This writer observed many families with children in this area. There are public restrooms nearby, and you can get a carriage tour from this location. Overall a great place to experience the Savannah market.

Please be aware that there is also a Farmers Market, but that is in Forsyth Park. That is every Saturday from 10:00-2:00. The Farmers Market offers farm fresh produce, bread, sweets and other home made items. I would definitely recommend shopping there too.

So this is just a typical place for tourist to hang out. Over priced food establishments, a pizza place with rude and out of control workers, homeless people hang out nearby, over priced gift shops with junk in them. We walked thru just to see it. We did enjoy eating all the cookie samples in the Byrds Cookie Store. We avoided Vinnie Van Go Go's Pizza place. I avoid places that take cash only (Usually means their doing shady business) and as I said before the workers were rude. There was live music and a few bars, so if you're a couple and want some live music and beer this would probably be an okay place after a day of sightseeing.

Great area for people watching, simply hanging out, plenty of benches, very quaint, lots of cute shops, restaurants and bars. Live music! Flowers blooming in late December!

Strictly for tourists.... It is worth an hour if you're looking to purchase some local arts and crafts as a gift or you want to grab a quick bite of lunch. But there's so much more to do and see in Savannah (and much better restaurants elsewhere, so don't waste a lot of time here or you will miss "the good stuff."

If you like candy, you should absolutely stop here. There is a fun atmosphere in the market. People are out, drinking beers, walking along and enjoying the day. Savannah has no open container law. If it's in a cup, it's fine.
