I expected more great shopping and ambiance when visiting the City Market. We walked through about 10:30 AM on a chilly Friday morning, and didn't find it especially interesting or inviting, so we walked through once again about 3:00 in the afternoon when it was warm and sunny, but it was much the same as the morning. My opinion as a visitor, is perhaps more thought needs to be given to this great site which lacks appeal, action, and more of everything Savannah. Some nice art though, and a couple restaurants, but none we wanted to visit. Hear me on this one, if you want a great shopping experience, go to The Paris Market the corner of Bull and Broughton Street, not far from the City Market, and you will momentarily forget you are in Savannah, and will just assume you are in Paris. Not the usual touristy items...this is the real thing. Two floors of everything you'd hope for in a Paris Market, right in beautiful Savannah. Welcoming sales staff, beautiful interior...worth a visit.
