Hampton Inn & Suites Savannah/Midtown
Ranked #32 of 116 Hotels in Savannah
Reviewed January 21, 2012

I stayed at this property for one night in late December 2011 while travelling through the area. I exchanged 25,000 HHonors points for a room with two queen beds.

The property is located in a business focused area of Savannah. It is approximately ten minutes from the tourist-focused River Street area. Numerous restaurants are located within a few blocks. Alternate properties in the immediate area include a Hilton Garden Inn, Residence Inn and Homewood Suites.

The exterior of the Hampton was very attractive, clean and well maintained. Adequate parking is available in a parking garage shared with an adjacent property. The parking area was well lit and appeared safe.

The lobby area was clean, neat and attractive. Front desk staff were polite, attentive and I found all documents prepared in advance of my arrival. This made check-in a short, efficient process.

Elevator service was prompt and cabs were found to be clean. Interior hallways were clean and well lit.

The room was furinished in a manner typical for the chain and price point. All electronic equipment was found to be in good working order and internet speeds were more than adequate for wireless use.

Intermittent hallway noise was a factor as the city was hosting a teen basketball tournament during my stay and other guests were less than respectful. This was certainly not the fault of hotel leadership, rather it was indicative of a lack of attention by chaperones.

Morning breakfast was well stocked and typical for a Hampton. Staff members were helpful and polite. Check-out was a short affair and I was invited back.

This is a fresh, new and well-run property. Should the opportunity arise I would not hesitate to return in the future.

We drove from VA to Savannah really early in the morning, so we were exhausted by the time we arrived in Savannah, around 1pm. I called to find out if it were possible to check-in early, and the front desk person (Kara) said yes. I was so grateful, and we found our room to be spacious, well-appointed and with the nice Hilton Honors greeting (water, candy) and plenty of items to make our stay easier (toiletries, plush towels). We went to sleep for a few hours and decided to get Lean Cuisines from the front desk shop for dinner instead of venturing out. Without asking,a staff member grabbed forks and knives for us, and asked if there might be anything else we could use. We also enjoyed drinks, desserts and grabbed some snacks for later.

We enjoyed comfortable beds and watched HBO and went to bed. There were no adverse events. The AC is preset at a temperature that seems higher than other Hamptons, and we were a little warm at times during the night, but that could also be because the bedding is very comfortable and ample (duvet). The showers were great, and the breakfast was more than adequate (we are always happy when they have waffles).

I really applaud Kara and how friendly she is. I cannot remember the evening clerk that night who helped us with our dinners, but she was very friendly as well.

We will probably stay here again on our way home, back through Savannah and remember it for future visits. We typically stay immediately off of I-95 for quicker access back on the road, but this is a good alternative for when we want to also do things in Savannah. We have also stayed in the historic district, and although convenient, you will pay a considerable difference in price, depending on the time of year or day of the week. We used our AAA discount and paid only a $80 base price.

We liked the private parking garage, and because we arrived early and stayed put, we didn't experience any parking problems. I do wish the parking garage had an "arm" to get in, so that we would feel our vehicle was more secure (especially if you need to leave some luggage or traveling items in there) because Garden City is around the corner, and the general area, although newer, still feels a little sketchy. The hotel itself is appointed by a new shopping center with upscale stores and flanked by office buildings, so it is a nice new area of town that seems safe and fine.

We stayed over the Christmas holiday weekend, and had a wonderful time in Savannah. Great price, good food offered for the free breakfast (something for everyone to choose from, hot and cold) Just a five minute, beautiful drive to the Historic district, and twenty minutes from the beach. The rooms were excellent, very clean, lots of room even with three of us staying there, and the beds were so comfortable we hated to leave. The amenities were very nice, pool, spa and gym well maintained, and very clean. The staff was very courteous, friendly, and helpful.

Everything about this hotel was a step above every other hotel chain we experienced!
Price we paid was excellent, hotel was very clean, modern, great amenitites. Free breakfast had hot food, and was well presented. Location of this hotel was in a good area - not the historic district, but close enough for a 5 min drive. staff was very pleasant and helpful.
And oh yeah - free parking garage - what a surprise! (We're used to paying anywhere from $20-30 per night for parking in most cities)
You can't go wrong with a stay in this hotel!

Hotel is new, clean and the service is wonderful. When we first walked into our room my children (23 & 19) did a "wow". The size of the guestrooms are generous The layout is inviting. The only thing I could suggest is that outside the bathroom put a counter for the hairdryer and additional outlets for when the bathroom is in use. But that is the only thing I could ask for differently. The breakfast (free) was plentiful and delicious. The location is perfect..away from all the noise from downtown. Plenty of restaurants and shopping this way too. Overall I give this hotel an A+.
Will definitely be back!

Room Tip: Traveling with children is a great location~ indoor pool~quiet area of town~

We really enjoyed the customer service at the hotel. It was very clean, in all areas we visited, and the breakfast was above par for a free breakfast buffet.

I have food allergies and usually cannot eat off buffets, but found things I could eat before we left out each morning to enjoy the city.

The location is great for both the shopping within walking distance, and the ease of accessing downtown.

Would stay there again.

Room Tip: We had the king with a whirlpool tub and really enjoyed the relaxation after a day walking/shopping...
