Our first time in Savannah we chose Rocks because it was highly rated on another review site. The atmosphere was visually appealing, but the music was too loud to dine by (and I grew up with rock). Our waitress may have been the most inept server I've ever had. She brought our appetizer only minutes before our food and the wine we ordered first thing we received AFTER our food. Our meals were adequate, but it was difficult to enjoy them with the poor service. We live in Savannah now, but we'll never return to Rocks on the River. There are too many other choices.

We stayed at the Mansion on Forsyth Park several years ago and were referred to their sister hotel the Bohemian as a good place to eat at the riverfront and it was very good. When we returned to Savannah each year after that we returned and had always been pleased with our experience. This year we visited for lunch on New Years Day. We arrived at 1:50 pm. After waiting several minutes for someone to return to the hostess stand, a rather abrupt gentleman informed us that they were only serving brunch and to return after 2:00 pm. We walked around the Riverfront and returned to the Rocks at about 2:30 pm. We observed plenty of empty tables. The same gentleman looked at us and said the kitchen needed time to "transition" to lunch and to come back later.

As we liked Rocks in the past but did not like the hosts unfriendly demeanor we decided to leave and had lunch elsewhere. We returned later that evening for a late dinner. We arrived around 9:45 and were told that they were not seating any more patrons as the kitchen was closing (their signs said that they close at 10:00 pm). Hopefully this was just an "off" day for the restaurant but the service was inexcusably poor.

As a guest of the Bohemian on Christmas morning - we had breakfast at the hotel. Great decor. Fluffy biscuits. The service was true southern hospitality.

Manager doesn't understand customer service. We spent $300 on dinner with our 4 kids and after dinner we wanted to take the elevator to the lobby to get to our car. We were told by security that we had to exit on River street and walk the back up to the front. Granted it was New Years eve but it was only 7:30 pm. We waited for the Manager and he refused to let us take the elevator to the lobby. His reasoning was that the lobby was too crowded. He could have at least escorted us to the lobby but he refused. After we hiked up the stairs around the back with the 4 kids and checked out the lobby there was no crowd. I thought Rocks on the River was pretty cool but after spending money at your rooftop bar and $300 in your restaurant and then being kicked out back after dinner that's poor customer service. You set a very bad impression by distrusting your patrons, thinking that they will sneak into your rooftop party to save $10. That's pathetic!

We wandered by and were drawn in by the attractive decor. It appeared to be Asian, but the menu had something for everyone. We had several appetizers, and there was penty for the four of us to taste. The mussels were fantastic with a spicy sauce--different than the usual garlic, wine and butter. The shrimp and grits were amazing. Highly recommend.
