“Springhill Suites. Perfect Hotel. Perfect Location. Perfect Getaway.”
Reviewed June 16, 2010

My wife surprised me with a little getaway for my birthday this past weekend and got us a room at Springhill Suites in Historic Downtown Savannah. It was perfect. We had the best time!

The hotel was clean, modern and the staff was very friendly. The location was ideal too since it right in downtown Savannah where all the action is.

If you get the chance check this out for yourself and do the Savannah thing!

This is a new/modern hotel in a great location in downtown Savannah. The hotel is about 4 blocks from the city market and 6 blocks from river street. You can walk to anywhere in downtown Savannah. The rooms are awesome. We had the 2 queen suite that had 2 queen beds plus a couch/refrigerator/microwave area. We were celebrating a bachelorette party and having a suite was great for drinking wine and eating cheese before heading out on the town. The hotel's pool area was really nice with cushiony chairs and sofas. The pool was nice and warm and there is a hot tub as well. As others have mentioned the breakfast is pretty good but does get reallly crowded around 9am on the weekends. The valet is $17 per day (the website says $12 mariott needs to update this) but there is free parking on the weekend and we were able to find a spot on the street right in front of the hotel very easily and it was Memorial day weekend.
My only complaint is that 3 of the 4 reservations I had for the weekend were automatically charged for valet service even though we never used valet. The front desk took the charges off no problem. However it appears that it is standard for the hotel to assume you use the valet rather then tracking who does and does not use valet b/c I offer heard other guests at the hotel saying the same thing. Make sure you check your bill before you check out. I recommend to management who I see reads and comments on these reveiws that they come up with some way of properly charging for valet.

This hotel is really nice. Right between the historic residential area and the riverfront area in a safe part of town. Decent sized rooms - the couches are double beds so that was nice. The bathroom is broken into two rooms - the toilet in one and the shower in the other which saved time getting everyone ready. Would happily stay here again. Do check your bill - we didn't use valet parking but were charged anyway. They immediately credited my card - but I think it might just be the habit to add the parking on to bills.

elielio,

Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel. I am glad you enjoyed your stay. Sorry about the valet charge. We typically ask if our guests are parking a car with us, but mistakes do happen. I am happy our staff was able to quickly take care of it for you.

Our room was crispy clean, spacious, and the bed was comfortable. I liked the floor plan of the room, where there the shower was separate from the toliet facility. It makes it easy to be able to take a shower and your partner does not have to wait till you are done taking a shower. That's a plus for me. The service at the front desk, valet attendance and cleaning service have gone beyond the past of their duties. After two weeks have past I noticed that I was missing some clothing articles. I contacted the hotel and spoke to Ms. Brown, head of the housekeeping service. She was kind enough to locate my missing clothes. The location of the hotel was an idea spot for my dauther's wedding ceremony. We could of either walked or drove to the ceremony.

Stayed here four nights during our Savannah vacation. Outstanding location from which to walk to all the points in the Historic District. Room was good. Great shower. What made the trip for us was the assistance we received from Sally Krueger and Daniel Gleason (be sure to chekc out THe Distrillery, Local 1110, and Firelflies) at the concierge desk. Both made excellent recommendations for local restaurants, not tourist traps. Also, buy your tour tickets from them and get some decent savings on other attractions. The Owen-Thomas house is not to be missed. Parking is $17/day...but free on street parking overnight and on weekends. We really enjoyed our visit h to Savannah and this was a great hotel from which to enjoy all that is Savannah.

I stayed for 2 days, Sunday and Monday. From the time you pull up everyone was so very pleasent. The valet people were very polite even taking our bags to the room. Most of the peoples names escape me but they were all excellent examples of customer service even when we returned late at night. Montavious directed us to a genuine soulfood restaurant off the beaten track and the concierge Gil booked us on a ghost tour that was the best! Never saw the housekeeper but the room was spotless when we returned. Front desk agent were very pleasent saying hello or have a good day whenever anyone passed. It is a very modern styled hotel inside perfect for a young couple. The bathroom... i found the shower side beautiful, it is perfect for a couple, just a little confusing remebering u cant do that in this side and vice versa. The hotel was surprising close to bay street and City Market and easy walk. I will defiently be staying here next visit.

First off, you can't beat the location or ease of access. I-16 turns into Montgomery Street, and the hotel is a couple of blocks ahead on the right. With the historic district being a warren of one-way streets, the less driving, the better. The hotel is only a couple of blocks from City Market, and River Street is only a few easily-walkable blocks away. We walked everywhere. I also enjoyed the valet parking and secure parking area -- a big bonus in a downtown area. The hotel itself looks great and the room was comfortable. The only negative is the frosted glass door to the bathroom. My dh arose early for a business meeting, and the light from the bathroom illuminated the sleeping area. We found the breakfast to be very generous: two waffle irons, scrambled eggs, ham, baked goods, oatmeal with topping available, coffee AND tea selections, and the usual juices and yogurt. The staff was very friendly and helpful, particularly the valets. The swimming pool was attractive and the towels were plentiful, not always the case in hotels! And I really appreciated the concierge service: the concierge made our arrangements and we bought our tickets at the hotel at a discount. In fact, the hotel discount for the Juliette Gordon Low birthplace was better than our Scouts discount! This hotel will be a home base for all our trips to Savannah.
