Recommended length of visit: 2-3 hours
Owner description: Located near historic Savannah, this park borders Skidaway narrows, a part of Georgia’s intracoastal waterway. Trails wind through maritime forest and past salt marsh, leading to a boardwalk and observation tower. Visitors can watch for deer, fiddler crabs, raccoon, egrets and other wildlife. Inside the park’s interpretive center, birders will find binoculars, reference books and a window where they can look for migrating species such as Painted Buntings. Children will especially enjoy seeing the towering, 20-foot Giant Ground Sloth replica and reptile room. A scenic campground is nestled under live oaks and Spanish moss, while groups can enjoy privacy in their own pioneer campgrounds. Open-air picnic shelters and an enclosed group shelter are popular spots for parties, reunions and other celebrations.

The campsites are surrounded by beautiful live oak trees. There are hiking trails. You can be in downtown Savannah in minutes.

We stayed here because of great reviews and we were not disappointed. It's an absolutely beautiful park with great spacious pull through campsites, fire rings, water, electric & cable and a huge cement tent slab on each site! Bathrooms are clean and there's a coin operated washer/dryer. Staff very friendly. We especially enjoyed the trails to walk/run and bike on - so magical with the palms & hanging moss! No complaints with anything :) We stayed here in our rv and this ND couple will stay here again when we come through!

This is a really nice hike with some historic features for interest. We did the 3 mile loop and were done in about an hour as we stopped to read the markers.

About a 15 minute drive from downtown Savannah. Great place to visit. Wonderful salt marsh nature trail. Better place to camp. More to do than a weekend allows. Trails are great for hiking and biking. As with most Georgia State parks, the bathrooms are immaculate.
