Stayed here for 5 nights with 2 teenagers. We were in a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom suite. The room was spacious and comfortable. All the staff from the front desk to the valet to the morning breakfast crew were A +. I've stayed at a number of Residence Inns and this is one of the best. Really enjoyed our stay and Savannah!

Room Tip: If you need more than a room the 2 bedroom suites are fabulous.

When in Savannah, stay at the Residence Inn Downtown/Historic District. It's on the edge of the historic district, but still within walking distance to many historic homes and pocket parks. The restaurants and sites on the river are a bit of a distance, however, if you're planning to walk, but it should only take about 15 minutes or so one way. One nice perk is that the hotel is next door to a visitor center, which is helpful if it's your first time in Savannah. The hotel itself is very clean and quiet, the staff is helpful, and the gentlemen who handle the valet parking are excellent--very friendly and efficient (don't forget to tip them well--they're great!). Overall, it was a very good experience.

Morning breakfast was fresh and Diane always greeted everyone joyfully. She was attentive and hospitable. Crystal at the bar was cheerful and made awesome wine spritzers. Dennis was good with his bellhop service. Duane at valet was exceptional with attention and customer service. Truly a nice group of people. The rooms were clean and the outdoor heated pool was a delight as was the scenery. The location is close to everything and the free fare bus stops right in front of the hotel. The value and what you get is the best of both worlds! For business or family.

Room Tip: mon- Thurs the hotel does light evening snacks. This is another plus!!

I made the mistake of trying to save a few bucks and booked a hotel I wasn't at all pleased with and bailed after one night. I moved to the Residence Inn the next day and I was glad I did. The room and all the public areas were shiny, clean and pleasant. Clearly a very professional and well run property. But, my biggest compliments go to the staff, from Willie at the front door, to those at the front desk and cleaning the rooms, well done.

This hotel is not on the waterfront, but still in a good central location. It's about a 15 min walk to the water front one way and 10 min to Forsyth Park the other direction. It's also on the bus line for the free tourist bus.

The hotel itself in fairly new, but built to a historic style. The rooms are large and comfortable. We had a 2 room suite with a small kitchen. The pool is good, and it is enclosed in an interior courtyard. Some reviews complained about the location/security. It is in the city of Savannah, but I found the location very safe. It's right next to the main Savannah visitor center.

The breakfast was very good (fresh scrambled eggs, waffles, fruit, cereal, beagles, etc.). They have free happy hour Monday to Thursday. This includes domestic beer, red wine and white wine. They also have full bar for purchase. The free food varies from hot dogs to pasta depending on the night.

This hotel is located just outside the historic district. It is not in the best or safest part of town. We stayed in one of the cottage rooms. It was located in the back of the hotel, with a gate leading directly to the side street outside. The room was spacious but is showing its age, for instance the finish on the bathtub is somewhat worn out. There was no in room safe for our valuables.
During our four night stay, we arrived late in the evening (around 9 PM) one night to find the door to the room was open with the latch engaged to prevent the door from closing. It was scary not knowing if there is someone in our room. All our belongings were inside the room, which has a direct access to the side street through a side gate. The room was not quite cleaned (garbage cans not emptied, toiletries not provided). We assume housekeeping left the door open with the latch expecting to come back and finish, which they never did. The room had many flying insects that were attracted to the light left on inside the room.
We called the front desk, they were apologetic but had no explanation as to why housekeeping would leave a door open instead of using their keys to gain access to the room. However, they did not seem in the least surprised that the door was left open.
The manager never approached us to either apologize or explain how could this happen, even after we left a message at the front desk asking to speak to him. When we checked out, we insisted on speaking to him. He was apologetic but had no explanation whether this method of keeping room doors open is regularly used by housekeeping.
They did comp us one night (out of four), which we did not find was enough considering the circumstances. The manager insisted that it was more than enough.
I contacted Marriott Care (I am an Elite member) after we arrived home. They had nothing to add apart from asking for comments from the manager. The manager wrote back saying that they have done all they are going to do.
If you are at all concerned about your safety and the safety of your belongings, stay elsewhere in Savannah.

Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your stay at our hotel. I was glad that you stayed with us for four days and that you had an opportunity to enjoy Savannah, as well as our amenities.

I would once again like to apologize for the incident with your door. The security of our guests is of the utmost importance, and this error was inexcusable. We have addressed and re-emphasized guest security with our staff so that this issue does not happen in the future.

Thank you again for your loyalty to Marriott.

We stayed at the Residence Inn one night in May and were quite pleased! The king suite was very comfortable, bed & pillows perfect, and quiet. They have a happy hour, which was very nice, and good food for breakfast. Both the women in the breakfast area and bar were upbeat and friendly. Willie, the valet gentleman, was extremely friendly and helpful in assisting us with directions, and Jamel, one of the hotel workers, was also extremely helpful and willing to help in any way.
There is a free bus, with the stop right around the corner from the hotel, that will take you to the squares and right down to River St Marketplace or anywhere in between. Very convenient and easy to get around. Would recommend this hotel to those traveling to Savannah!
