“Really Nice Modern Hotel”
Reviewed May 18, 2014 via mobile

The rooms are really nice! Full kitchen and very modern homely feel to them. The massaging shower heads are just the thing to call it a nightafter a long day of sight seeing.the breakfast was very good as well. I'd definitely stay there again!

We stayed at the Residence Inn for only one night. We flew into Savannah airport in order to spend a week in Hilton Head. We had always wanted to visit Savannah and we are so glad that we did! The hotel is on the edge of the historic district but certainly within walking distance to most tourist locations. When we arrived at the hotel we were a little confused at the parking situation. We didn't see anyone outside to valet our car for us so we ended up finding a spot on the street. It worked for us but it was confusing. We were then told that we could have asked for valet but as I said above, no one was outside to greet us when we pulled up to the main entrance.
The lady at the front desk was very pleasant and personable. She gave us coupons to an Old Savannah bus tour which departs right next door at the visitor center. She also offered us some suggestions on places to grab dinner.
The rooms are very spacious. We had a studio suite with a king sized bed, updated kitchenette and sitting area. I was more than happy with the accommodations and I thought it was a great bang for the buck.
The free breakfast was ok and typical of what you would get at a hotel (scrambled eggs, grits, sausages, fruit, waffle maker, cereal, toast etc.) It certainly helped as we didn't have to spend money on breakfast.
The courtyard area was very pretty with a nice pool and fire pit. We did not have time to utilize either amenity but the courtyard are was very clean and well kept. We did use the onsite gym which had free weights, elliptical machines and treadmills. It was a small gym but had all of the basics.
All in all, I would go back and stay at the Residence Inn in Savannah. The hotel was clean, well priced and with very friendly staff.

We had a very nice experience at the Residence Inn in the historic district over Easter weekend.

This hotel is located on the very western edge of the historic district, right next to the vistor center and railroad museum. The proximity to the vistor center is nice since that is where most of the tours originate.

The historic district of Savannah is not that large, so even though this hotel is on the edge, it really doesn't take much time to walk anywhere. The City Market is a 10 minute walk, River and Bay Streets are probably about 15 minutes away at a brisk clip, Bull Street (main north/south street) is just a few minutes away as well.

The room itself was very clean and comfortable with the exception of the hard bed which seems to be common in all Residents Inns (Courtyard and Renascence hotels have softer and more comfortable beds, to me at least). The breakfast is decent: a slight step up from the typical fare at Residents Inns. The seating area in the lobby for breakfast, and just hanging out, is very comfortable too. There is a small bar/tavern area that opens for a few hours each night as well.

The staff was terrific and very helpful in suggesting places to eat and directions.

The only negative is the parking situation: when we first pulled in, we couldn't really figure out where to go to have the valet take the car. After parking in a bank parking lot across the street and walking over to the main entrance, the valet gave us instructions: there's no real 'turn off lane' as is common in many urban hotels. But that's just a small nit pic: the valets were extremely nice and helpful once we got the car parked and had it brought around (a couple of times).

There is a gas station/C-store next to the hotel making it easy to pick up soda, snacks, etc.

Because the hotel is just a bit off the beaten path adn not located right in the heart of the historic district or right on Bay street, we found the rates were quite a bit less expensive than other comps. Since Savannah is so 'walkable' and the vistor center busses are close by, the lower room rates attracted us.

I'd stay here again.

I stayed here for a 12 day stint on business. The staff was friendly and accommodating. My fellow travelers and I were greeted by cordial front desk staff. The valets are very warm and quick to bring the vehicles around. The morning ladies at the breakfast area also greet guests with a smile and are helpful. Crystal, the evening bartender, is quick with a smile and she keeps friendly conversation going. The rooms were plenty large, with satisfactory furnishings; a kitchenette with full fridge and dishwasher, dinette table, desk, fold out love seat, full size panel TV, king bed, storage areas for luggage and clothing. Watch out in the showers; they are slippery. I recommend the hotel add some sort of anti-slip coating to the tub. Overall, the stay was a positive one.

Room Tip: The cottages are nice, affording the traveler a little more privacy, though if you have a guest abov...

We stayed here for two nights on a trip up and down the Georgia coast. Beautiful hotel in a great location. Walking distance to pretty much everything in the downtown Savannah area, but you do have to walk which we don't mind. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful and the rooms were very clean.

Breakfast had a great selection and the happy hour was good and busy both evenings!

Would definitely stay here again.

We stayed here because we wanted a great downtown location. We were on the far side of downtown and to walk to River Street was a little hike. The transit bus stopped right in front of the hotel which made it convenient to get to downtown and it was free. The rooms were large and spacious. The morning buffet was average. The staff was friendly and helpful. There is valet parking for 12 per night and had a gated parking lot which was secure. The laundry facility was kind of small and if you didn't time it properly you will be waiting. The courtyard area was nice and it had a outdoor fire pit, however it was raining during our visit. The Crystal Beer Parlor was in walking distance which was nice. The concerns were this: There are many hotels in the downtown area and if you want to be in the middle of everything do a little more research. We were chatting with a Savannah Patrolman as far as safety concerns and he did not suggest walking around that area late at night, but if you are with your family you probably wont be doing that anyway. I should have remembered what my mother always told me and take your Lysol spray with you to any hotel. Although the rooms appeared very clean I got a very bad case of athletes foot, so take your spray and wear your sandals. The hotel choices are many downtown , so do your research and choose what's best for you location and amenity wise

This hotel was great for us. We had 4 adults and 2 large dogs and the accommodations were great. I have stayed in other Residence Inns that smelled bad but this one was really clean. The breakfast buffet was disappointing but evening appetizers and drinks were good. The valet and staff gave us excellent recommendations for dinner too.
