“Great pick”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 12, 2012

Our two day stay was not long enough in our ground level cottage. Very nicely decorated; equiped with everything we needed, even a little porch facing a park. Staff was wonderful. Very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was better than many hotels. We were pleasantly surprised by dinner. Saved us a lot of money. Great location; quiet and in walking distance of many of points of interest. Oh yes, the price was right.

Friendly staff, quick check-in, and first floor room was very clean, newly decorated. However, this location isn't ideal for walking to restaurants or visiting the squares. I wish we would have stayed closer to Bay Street or on one of the squares. Valet parking is available for $12 per night in a fenced in lot across from the hotel entrance as there is very limited parking on the street.

Thanks for taking the time to write a TripAdvisor Review for the Residence Inn by Marriott Savannah Historic District. I appreciate your comments regarding the ease of check-in, friendly staff and room decor. I am disappointed that you were not pleased with the hotel location. While we are within walking distance to the night life on Bay and River Street, our hotel's location provides our guests the comfort of a quiet neighborhood which is adjacent to the RoundHouse Railroad Museum and the Savannah Visitors Center, the starting point for your Savannah vacation. Restaurants and bars as well as many of the historic venues are steps away. The DOT Shuttle which is a complimentary shuttle service provided by the City of Savannah picks up at our door step and can get you anywhere you need to be in Savannah's Historic District. which is the largest in the United States.

Thank you again for your comments and choosing our hotel for your lodging needs while in Savannah.

While pleasing to the eye with it's nicely decorated interior and historical exterior, other aspects didn't equal the decor. Typical ammenities for a room in this price range were scarce. Continental breakfast was equal to what would be found in a $80 a night facility. Happy Hour a nice perk with free wine and beer but the advertised free food was lacking. Overall, unless you're into looking at pretty decor for your vacation, you can find better room rates with equal, or better ammenities, in same area. Watch out for $12 parking fee - mandatory! - also!

Spent two nights here while visiting Savannah, and was pleased with the hotel. The rooms are spacious and clean, and the bed was comfortable. No problems at all with noise, even with the pool outside our window. The breakfast is much nicer than your typical hotel breakfast, which was a nice bonus. The location is right on the edge of most of the places you'll want to visit, but everything is within a 15 minute walk, or, you can catch the free shuttle during the day. Friendly staff were also helpful in suggesting restaurants and activities for us first time visitors. Would stay here again, and would recommend to friends and family.

We were able to check in early which was very nice. Our 1 bedroom King suite was very large, clean and quiet. We were on the 4th floor and had a view of the pool and bridge. The hotel staff was very friendly. We found parking on the street (valet parking is $12). The Visitor Center is next door with several trolley tours leaving from there. We bought a Walking Guide for $6 from the Visitors Center. We walked all over the HD and also took an Old Town Trolley tour which was very good. We ate at Leopold for ice cream and Vinnie Van Go Go's for pizza. Both were good. We walked back to the hotel in the evening around 8:00. Some of the streets were not well lit. We felt safe but it was still early. I'm not sure about later in the evening the front desk would probably know. The gym and pool area were nice. There is also a fire pit near the pool area. Would recommend this hotel.

This hotel is located just off of I-16 where it ends in the city. It may be just a little farther away from the river, city market, etc., but it feels a little less cramped than some of the in-town appear. Parking is limited. Just pay for the Valet and they keep your vehicle in locked fenced lots. Every member of the hotel staff we encountered was very friendly and helpful. Several museums and the Visitor Center are very closeby. We would definitely stay here again.

The hotel was very clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful. It was located within walking distance of attractions and restaurants. If you can't do a lot of walking, you can catch a shuttle or a tour bus either at the door or not far away. There is also a lot of fun things to do within a short drive.
