“Must do hidden gem!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 4, 2013

My son and I visited the Fort today! It was a wonderful experience starting at the visitor center where we were greeted by 2 friendly and knowledgeable people. We then proceeded into the Fort and were greeted by a Confederate Private in character that showed us around. He even gave my son drumming lessons and allowed him (and another young lady) the opportunity to drill on the steps it took to shoot a canon. There was an actual canon demonstration! It's a beautifully maintained property and hidden gem. Those working on the property are extremely knowledgeable and passionate about preserving our nation's history!! We plan to visit again on our next trip to Savannah! BTW - the cost of admission actually allows you to visit for 3 days!!

“Old Fort Jackson”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 2, 2013

This was one of my favorite places to visit. The old fort was full of history and I got many pictures. We happened to be there when they fired one of the cannons! We also had their bugler and drummer play us a tune. Great experience.

“For the visitors who like to visit old forts”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 29, 2013

This is a well preserved fort with lots of interesting history. Be sure to call ahead and see if a guided tour is scheduled as this is the best way to learn about its history. The historians are dressed in period costumes and are very eager to tell the story of the Fort!

“Awesome Experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 29, 2013 via mobile

This is a wonderful and educational experience for all. We were totally surprised due to the lack of signs on the roadway and construction on the roadway when my family got to the fort. It is awe inspiring. The two men working at the fort were very friendly and very knowledgeable about the times. The best part is when they shot off the cannon for us, my teenagers really enjoyed it. You are allowed to tour the fort at your own pace which is excellent as well, which gives you plenty of time to look at all the artifacts that have been found. This is a must see for Savannah!

“Must see when in Savannah.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 20, 2013

Really impressed with the site and the people. They fire a 12lb howitzer 2x per day. (11 and 2) Today they had a large school group there and fired th 32lb cannon. Super impressive. The young people they had there giving tours were in costume and were very knowledgable with regards to the site and history.

Your kind words are greatly appreciated. The 32lber we fired is believed to be the oldest gun of its size still fired in the United States. We're glad you got to experience it.
