“Great Location and nice porch with rockers”
Reviewed September 28, 2012 via mobile

Like a lot of folks, we used a Groupon and spend several days here this past week. The staff was very nice and friendly and the location is really great. The porch is very nice to sit on as well as the gardens in the rear. I was a little disappointed with the breakfasts because I guess I have been spoiled by a wonderful B&B in Gatlinburg. Breakfast each day was usually some type of casserole or filled puff pastry and nothing else (well some small amount of fruit as garnish). The tea and coffee and juices were very nice - great to sit on the porch and drink something nice. The room was very nice and the bathroom was awesome. We got service every day but one day they did not give us a couple of waters and we did not have the "makeup take-off" (black) wash clothes. We had some problems with lights coming in our room during the night but we mostly ignored it. Please remember these houses were built in 1876 and they did not build thick walls. The first night we heard everything going on upstairs - until after 1:00 AM when I guess they went to bed. We could hear most everything so you might want to take some ear plugs. The afternoon wine hour was very nice but the snacks were just OK - nothing special. They did have some apples at the bar and an honor bar around the clock. Sodas and water bottles were very reasonable. If you have any food problems (such as diabetes, etc.), please tell them when you check in. We did not and we should have because it would have been better for us. All in all, a nice place in a great location - just have a few things you need to know about.

We stayed at this B&B for our wedding anniversary this year. Overall, we enjoyed our weekend stay. it was very charming, comfortable accommodation, good service with friendly staff, breakfast was made fresh and was very good. I think I would have enjoyed more if the location was little closer to the River front but considering there are a lot of places to visit, didn't mind taking a walk.

We would visit again.

My husband and I had the best time in Savannah this past June. The Dresser Palmer House was a terrific place to stay. Our accommodations were beautiful, the location was perfect for walking the entire city and our hosts went out of their way to make our stay comfortable and informative. We also enjoyed talking with other guests at family style breakfasts and early evening wine and snacks. We had access to the kitchen to store our own food and there was plenty of water available as well as a local market within walking distance. We would recommend staying at this lovely Inn without any reservations.

We have stayed at the Dresser Palmer House twice and found the rooms clean, georgeous antique furniture, and within walking distance of most of the historic sites and parks. The breakfasts are delicious - variety of dishes, prepared to fit our dietary needs - vegetarian, non-dairy. The staff makes every effort to be helpful and accommodating of every need. Would stay there again!

The Dresser Palmer House is a FABULOUS destination for anyone looking for something "outside the box" or something that is "vintage Savannah." Innkeeper Shannon Blackburn will bend over backwards to ensure her guests have an enjoyable, relaxing and memorable visit. Her attention to detail is noticed throughout the property's wonderful decore, the gourmet food service, the southern hospitality and even the amaretto-scented bath towels.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the second floor that opens onto the shared veranda overlooking the courtyard! Ha...

My wife and I stayed at the DPH on September 11 and 12, 2012. The main house was well appointed and a wonderful place to relax in the evening after a long day of site-seeing. Our room was named "Wistera" and is located in the basement accessible from outside the main house. The room, like the rest of the house, was well appointed and very nice. The downside is that it has no window, other than a small one in the door, and a loud humidifier in the corner that is very much needed to keep the humidity down to a level that is almost tolerable. It however drains into a bucket that when full causes the humidifier to kick off. Empting it at 3:00 in the morning to get the humidifier running again was not what I expected. The other downside is parking, there are only four spaces on the property. Off-site parking is available a block away but within easy walking distance.

The vist would have been perfect if not for the humidity level and the constant emptying of the humidifier bucket. I rated "sleep quality" as poor becuase it was impossible to sleep with the humidifier turned off due to the high humidity, and with it on the loud fan kept me awake.

Room Tip: Ask for a room without a humidifier.

My wife and I stayed here for one night. This is a very friendly place. The house itself is beautiful and furnished in period pieces that take you back to another time. Our room was off of a beautiful back courtyard. The room itself was not real fancy, but the bathroom was gorgeous with marble tiles and a huge shower. The owner said it was recently remodeled. The bed was pretty squeaky, which my wife was not wild about.

The location is great. A short walk to Forsyth Park, Clary's, and not too far to Broughton Street.

They have a nice afternoon cordial, with your choice of 4 wines, 2 red and 2 white. They also had some snacks which were a good holdover before we walked to dinner.

Breakfast was stuffed French Toast with bacon on the side which was terrific - a few more calories that my normal bran cereal in the morning, but, what the heck, you have to live sometime.

Overall, we were very happy with our stay here. The place is very reasonable compared to comparable B&B's in Savannah, has a great location, has a real B&B atmosphere, and excellent host.
