“Best Bed and Breakfast in Savannah”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 5, 2007

My husband and I have just returned from our Anniversary weekend trip in Savannah, Ga. We absolutely loved the Amethyst Inn. Our hosts were the friendliest and most accomodating people we have ever met. They were very knowledgeable about the best places to eat and any special attractions going on during our stay. We stayed in the Dahlia suite which was beautiful, immaculate, spacious and well worth the price. There were beautiful balconies to lounge on, a spacious sitting area, and our hostess made the most scrumptuous breakfast. But my favorite part was afternoon refreshments when we sat around the dining table and chatted with our hosts and other guests there. It was like sitting around catching up with old friends. My husband and I both wish we could have stayed longer. Staying at the Amethyst Inn helped us cope with the tropical storm that decided to hit the same weekend of our trip. So we just enjoyed the opportunity of hanging around the Inn!

Jane and Rocky Reed (owners) are the nicest people you will ever meet. My husband and I had the best time staying there.
I have already recommended The Amethyst Inn to several friends. It is clean, warm and cozy. Breakfast is great! We will go back next time we are in Savannah!

What an AMAZING place! Wonderful food, phenominal service, VERY reasonable! When I think of what a bed and breakfast in Savannah should look like, this is it, to a tee!!!! Absolutely goregous! Rocky and Jayne (the owners) are two of the sweetest and most gracious people. Very knowledgeable and give great advice for what to do around Savannah!!! This is the place to stay in Savannah, don't pass this place up! Not only do they serve delicious southern breakfasts, they offer an appetizer and wine time as well! They have definaly found repeat guests in us!

We recently returned from a 3-day stay at the Amethyst Inn at Sarah's Garden in Savannah, GA. It was a truly wonderful experience. We were new to Savannah and found we could leave our car parked and get around easily on foot, by horse-drawn carriage or pedicab. It's a beautiful city and the Inn was charming. It is actually a Bed & Breakfast, not a hotel or restraurant, in a large nicely restored 1880's home. Our hosts, Rocky and Jane and their staff, were extremely helpful with suggestions for tours, things to do and their knowledge of the city and its history. They are also accomplished chefs...the food was excellent! We made new friends and had a great time. We recommend it highly and plan to return again.

My Husband and I just stayed 4 days at The Amethyst Inn Sarah's Garden and we loved every minute there. Rocky & Jane welcome you to their Inn with Southern Charm and kindness. The knowledge that they have between the two of them about Savannah, Georgia is remarkable. Their Inn is tastefully decorated with antique furnishings and yet your made to feel at home. Every morning we had the most wonderful breakfast served in the dining room with everyone staying at the inn. It's alot more fun to sit and eat and converse with everyone about what you did the night before or what you will be doing that day. Rocky & Jane always had great ideas about things you should see that day or places to eat. If you needed help with reservations or transportation, or which house to visit Rocky & Jane were always ready to lend a hand in getting your day planned. Around 4pm every afternoon if you were around the Inn they welcomed you with cocktails and snacks, yet another chance to have stimulating conversation with Rocky & Jane and the other Inn guest about your day and where you will be going for dinner. We highly recommend The Amethyst Inn Sarah's Garden because of Rocky & Jane and the rest of the staff there. We always had a clean room, excellant breakfast, wonderful conversations and beautiful grounds to sit ,relax and enjoy the view. Not that you did too much relaxing because Savannah has alot to do, see and great food to taste. This was our first trip to Savannah, Georgia and The Amethyst Inn Sarah's Garden and we can't wait to go back!!! We highly recommend The Amethyst Inn Sarah's Garden for anyone wanting a beautiful place to stay and is very reasonably priced for all the luxury that surrounds you. I even forgot a bag with personal items and when I called Rocky & Jane told me they had my bag and would send it out to me immediately and they did.

We just got back from a wonderful Memorial Day weekend stay at Amethyst Inn, and it was fantastic. Rocky and Jane are full of helpful suggestions, and make sure that no one slips through the cracks. They know the good places to eat, where the local speed traps are, and will help you with directions or setting up tours if you need it. The food was fantastic. Both Jane and Rocky enjoy cooking and trying out new recipies, so you can bet you'll be getting something besides the usual scrambled eggs and toast if you stay here.

The building itself also has quite a bit of history behind it, which Jane and Rocky (with the help of one of their housekeepers, who iis and architecture/preservation student at the local college of art and design) have researched quite completely. There's a whole binder filled with information on the property to keep you occupied while you're drinking your coffee in the morning, if Jane and Rocky aren't enough for you.

All in all, we had a great time for a reasonable amount of money. It's easy to get to the beach and historic forts around Savannah from the property (if you're driving) and of course pretty much everything in the downtown/historic district is easy walking distance.

My wife and I have been fortunate enough to travel frequently, both in the U.S. and abroad. We have utilized the spectrum of lodging, Hotels, Time shares, B&B's etc. Our time with Jane and Rocky (May 22-26) is, without exception, the most enjoyable accommodations to date.
They, and their staff, went above and beyond to insure all guests’ comforts and hospitality, and bring all guest together in a family friendly forum. When they stated "The cookie jar is always available,
and feel free to raid the frig", they were sincere. And, just in case
you like to eat, Ms. Jane is a wonderful cook. Breakfast will encourage the staunch sleepyhead to forgo that extra snooze and be on
time for her culinary delights. And don’t even think about missing happy hour(s). Their knowledge of Savannah, and willingness to assist
in anyway, was invaluable. When we departed, we felt we were leaving family, not just another bed. Amethyst Inn may be rated #2 B&B in Savannah, for the time being, but it is surely "Second to none".
