Very lovely. It was the perfect location and the complimentary offerings were better than expected. The courtyard was lovely and the beds exceptionally comfortable. I'd recommend a room off the courtyard though for better privacy.

Great location on Jones St. We were able to either walk or catch a peddle cab to all destinations. Free breakfast in courtyard with wine and cheese in early evening and desert and coffee later evening. Good value for the area and courteous service.

On the plus side the location is great and Brandon is a charming and helpful young man. The evening wine and nibbles is a great way to meet other guests.
However, on the negative side the bedroom and bathroom were grubby, the breakfast poor,(very similar to a Staybridge Hotel self service buffet which you clear away yourself). On the morning after it had rained no one thought to dry off the chairs so we all sat under the porch alongside the breakfast buffet. One couple were sitting on their bathroom towels. One day dirty towels were in two piles on the balcony outside the bedrooms until late into the afternoon. Parking is an issue as is moving your car to the "right" side of the street on Fridays and Saturdays to allow for street cleaning. These things matter when you are paying this price. I had read other reviews but I was disappointed and can't recommend this Inn.

Room Tip: Not on the ground floor of the extension. The fountain is on all night and you will hear the breakfa...

First time to stay at the Eliza Thompson House and I am looking forward to a return visit. We stayed in the Chatham room which you access from the street. The street access is very convenient especially if your vehicle is parked in front of the facility. Parking was not a problem for us anywhere in the historic district. Maybe because we visited during the week.We had the $12 two day pass which was very convenient. We were able to park twice directly in front of the hotel. The Chatham room is spacious with two comfy queen beds. Room darkening curtains and a nice ac unit made for an excellent night of sleep. Very important if you want to have energy for the day. The courtyard is a treat with the beautiful flowers, a water fountain, and numerous pieces of garden art. Breakfast was delicious. We also enjoyed with wine and cheese the previous night. I was impressed with the assortment of food and the display. The food included cheese and crackers, deviled eggs, hummus, and finger sandwiches. Wine and soft drinks were also provided. I enjoyed visiting with the other guests. Hotel or this B&B? I stayed at a major hotel for my first visit to Savannah. I did not use any of the hotel facilities besides the restaurant for breakfast $$. I paid less to stay at the Eliza House and had a MUCH better experience.

Cindy R, Director of Sales at Eliza Thompson House Savannah, responded to this review, June 4, 2014
I'd like to sincerely apologize to you for your negative experience at our Inn. Parking can be challenging in Savannah, and we do understand your frustration. Like most historic B&Bs in Savannah, Eliza Thompson House is located in a residential neighborhood and has access only to on-street parking. Please do know that having to park such a distance away is quite unusual, as there is normally ample parking within a block or two of the Inn. With that said, there is no excuse for the staff being upset and disturbing you, and I also apologize that the breakfast was inadequate. While we are very sorry you were disappointed with your stay, we do thank you very much for mentioning that our Front Desk staff, as we are very proud of our Staff and their hospitality. The Innkeeper and I have discussed your review, and will be presenting it to our Staff so can address the concerns you mentioned. Again, please accept my apologies for your bad experience. We do hope you'll consider us again when you return to Savannah.

Sincerely,

Cindy Roberts

My husband selected this Inn and it was incredible! All of the staff was so accommodating, very nice and genuinely helpful. The Inn itself is beautiful, well kept and so clean. The wine and snacks and then dessert and coffee each night was a wonderful touch. Eating breakfast in the courtyard was simply delightful.

The location is great - we found it to be very convenient. While we had a car we mostly walked and it was a great focal point to cover all the areas of Savannah - not too far of a walk anywhere.

I would recommend this place to stay and would absolutely go back in a heartbeat. The staff were all great!

The Eliza Thompson house is a wonderful place to stay at. All of the staff is very friendly. The breakfast in the morning was absolutely delicious. The cook Ms. Virginia is a wonderful cook and one of the nicest people we met in Savannah.
